Trailers don't play any more

Hi there,

Suddenly the YT trailers don't work any more on my LG app. Trailers still work on all other devices, web or Android. The problem is only with the LG app.
If I click the "trailer" button, there's a very short (youtube?) message on black background and then I'm back to the main page of the media/movie/show.
@SamES
Restart of all devices doesn't help. Any ideas?

I was able to read the error code. It's:

"Error 153. Video player configuration error."

Thanks!

75QNED87 with WebOS24
(Exactly: 75QNED87T6B.BEUFLJP)

Last TV-firmware update was 2 weeks ago.
Youtube alone still works, standalone players, all in website or other apps embedded videos seem to work as before.
Thanks!

Can you please fully uninstall the app, remove power to the TV, then restart and install the app again.

It's a cookie issue, so hopefully this removes the old cookies and resolves the issue.

@SamES@Luke

Full uninstall + remove power did the trick.
Trailers work again after reinstall - so does everything else.

Thanks very much for your fast help and the excellent service!
Greetings.

Awesome.  It looks like YouTube have changed something recently as Google search tells me there are lots of recent reports of embedded YouTube playback not working and getting Error 153.

Clearing the browser cache resolves it for others, but not so easy on a TV app, so uninstall/reinstall appears to be the only way.

BTW, I did see this on my TV and confirmed that clearing cookies with the developer tools also resolved it, so pretty certain that this is the sole cause of the issue.

Same issue here, trailers not working even after reinstalling emby app. Lg 77C4, webOS25 10.2.0-42.

My Nvidia sheild and Samsung phone won't play trailers either, I just switched to the universal app last night because trailers wouldn't play on the old app, after I switched trailers worked fine last night, tried again just now and nothing, circle spins for a split second then it's back to the movie's page

HI, yes we are following this closely. It looks like a lot of apps that embed youtube are impacted by sporadic failures. For whatever reason this can usually be resolved by clearing app data, although eventually it ends up happening again.

Same here. Nas and external bkup on win11 - both have issues with trailers on LG TV (Qned85uqa) webos22 / 7.57-23 (last years model)

Failed TV uninstall and remove power and reinstall - no change - still no trailers. Works on phones and pc . Youtube works on tv directly, always as guest. Wish I knew how to clear cookies with developer app? I did try reset device id and also delete viewing data on tv options but no effect.

TV uninstall

Was it definitely a full uninstall - not just 'remove' from the home screen?

Shield and Android phone cannot play trailers for me anymore, but through a normal browser it still works.

Follow-up question, since the Youtube-problem occurs again today for me.

Is there any way to clear cookies of an app manually without root?

I know my way around a Linux filesystem, SSH or tools like the dev manager,
but have no idea of app packages or the way an app handles their cookies and cache internally or system-wide.
Thanks for Info!

HI, we are looking into this. In the meantime, users have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling the app will fix it for a while. Thanks.

Thanks Luke - hopefully a fix for the LG and Firestick will come along soon. I too have an LG tv (OLED 65CX6LA) using firmware 04.63.25 and did the whole uninstall , unplug and then reinstall using the app from the LG store - Emby for LG 1.0.47. I'll try the firestick using the dedicate android emby app as the "standard" one comes back with youtube error #15.

It will be resolved in Emby for LG 1.0.49+. Thanks.
