howllor 26 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 We discovered yesterday that in order for a user to remove items from their own play queue, they need to have deletion priviledges for the music library. This is illogical, since nothing is actually deleted from the library when you remove something from your queue, it's not even removed from a playlist if you're playing from one! Queue editing should be available to any user, with even the most basic of priviledges, and I assume this must be a bug or something you just haven't thought of...
Luke 42077 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Hi this shouldn’t be true. Can you please show an example? Thanks.
howllor 26 Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 See the attached screenshots. What's even weirder is that if I log into his account from my device, I can edit the play queue.
Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 HI, how does that screenshot show that the option is gone? did you try tapping and holding on a play queue item?
howllor 26 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 I'll get him to record a video so you can see. If you long press or swipe on the items, it looks like it gives you the option to remove them, but nothing actually happens. Once I give him deletion priviledges it looks like this:
howllor 26 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 Here's a video of my user trying to remove things from the play queue when playback started from a playlist. However, we found that he was able to remove things from the queue when playback started from an album. signal-2025-09-22-12-53-31-456.mp4
howllor 26 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 This is in the Android app. There appears to be an issue with playing from this specific playlist apparently. If he plays from any other playlist, he can edit the play queue. It's so weird. I guess he can just copy all the tracks to a new playlist and the problem will be solved for now, but it would be interesting to know what caused it in the first place
Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 OK good news is I can't reproduce on the 4.9 server or the updated android app. Both should see release this week so if there is an issue, it won't be one for much longer.
howllor 26 Posted October 2, 2025 Author Posted October 2, 2025 I can report that this is still an issue
howllor 26 Posted October 2, 2025 Author Posted October 2, 2025 (edited) Relevant data should be at around 00.30 The icons for removing something from the play queue still wasn't there, sliding to remove from queue did nothing, and once he returned to the playlist the currently playing track (not the track he tried to remove) had been deleted from the playlist, not the queue. He then manually added the track to the playlist again. embyserver (1).txt Edited October 2, 2025 by howllor
howllor 26 Posted October 2, 2025 Author Posted October 2, 2025 More testing. At around 00.45 I gave him deletion priviledges (which had helped earlier) but he was still not able to remove anything from the queue. In the meanwhile, the track from before (breakfast at Tiffany's) had disappeared from the playlist again, plus from another playlist. I then logged into his account from my phone, and could remove things from the queue with no problem. It's both perplexing and annoying embyserver (2).txt
Luke 42077 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Maybe it's something with that version of Emby for Android. We have a new version that is currently rolling out slowly, so please let me know how things compare once he has that. Thanks.
