Remembering audio cc selections

 Hi,

I'm currently playing a series with multilingual audio and closed captions on Emby. I've noticed that after selecting my preferred audio and caption settings for the first episode, Emby doesn't remember these settings for subsequent episodes.

I haven't been able to find an option within Emby to save these preferences across episodes. Could you please consider adding this functionality in a future release? It would greatly improve the user experience.

There are no separate settings, it should occur automatically.

Hi, sorry for jumping in.

What GrimReaper says it's true, unless you have another configuration in "Subtitles":

If you have configured forced subtitles like me in the 2nd field, and the video you're playing next has forced subtitles this configuration will prevail upon your previous chapter manual adjustments.

And for some reason I don't understand this happens as well with your audio selection.

You can see this behaviour in the video below where I changed language to Japanese in one episode, subtitles to Spanish (Non-Forced) and when jumping next one, the configuration is overrided to default Audio in Spanish and subtitles to forced ones:

This has been a reported issue/request since... 2018. Yes, there are some possible inconsistencies in available subtitles between series episodes, but to have a default behavior that playing a subsequent episode tries to use the same subtitle settings in effect when the previous episode ended doesn't seem an unreasonable nor difficult to implement request.

Hi, yes the server already does remember selections from one episode to the next, assuming you have the option checked to remember your track selections.

That's not what the settings screen says - it says when playing the same video (see below). What setting carries subtitle settings from one episode to the next?

Sorry, I posted a screenshot of my settings, and I have continued to find that this still isn't fixed. It just isn't. Every individual episode uses whatever system settings are set, NOT inheriting the settings from the previous episode. I would be delighted if you could tell me - and the others who have posted about this - exactly what settings to use, either in that screen or in the 6 options for subtitle mode. Please. What settings?

Try changing "Only forced subs" to some other mode, like "Allways play subs", Clear saved track selections to reset all, test on any show, if it still doesn't function properly, specific example would be required as discussing in general terms is just guesswork.

Whew! Finally works. But why is this not possible with "only forced subtitles" option?

You may not have seen it, but others have been posting about this, too, and Luke has said "we're working on it." So I'd suggest you 1. fix the copy on the screen below "remember subtitle track selections" so it's clear it also pertains to subsequent episodes of a TV series, and 2. Indicate that this doesn't work if "only forced subtitles" is the selected mode.
