TV Naming Format Exceptions

Hello.

Currently changing over from PLEX to Emby.

First off, I did look at the format allowed for TV shows. The only TV files that traditionally have this naming are old cartoons....ie...Looney Tunes....and others. I know I may be screwed...lol. Took me about 3+ years to get this down the way I wanted that will work to look appealing....yes i'm slow....work too much to have time to play on pc.

Second off, Is there anyway to implement this format style without renaming 1000 files? I know it's a longshot, but i've tried all formats that work and this here is the only one that looks best in server.

Regards.

HI, what is the problem? Those file names look OK to me. It just means you'll have season numbers of 1939 and 1940.

I figured it doesnt work because Emby doesnt find my files

There are a couple more topic out there as everything you have shown should work as you don't need show prefix.  May need to see a server log.

Can you please show the complete screenshot so that we can see context? How are your folders organized?

I only have one folder named Looney Tunes "O:\Looney Tunes" with all media in that...no sub-folders. My log says it's working fine fetching everything. Creating as a stand alone library. But nothing shows up in my library. Weird. No worries as other TV shows and movies work. Just figured the formatting was wrong. Just weird that everything is fetching but nothing there.

Shows currently require a series folder, and at this time it can't be the top level folder. I think an easy fix would be to just make one extra folder level so that you can add the parent folder to the library.

OK....maybe this needs moved to bug section...idk. 3 dot dropdown I can click play button and media plays...but nothing showing in library. Rebooted server twice, still same...nothing in there...lol. I even re-made library, same result. Adding more TV and movie libraries are no problem. Just this. And all my media in windows is coordinated the same as the looney tunes....so yea, odd.

No, not a bug, because folder view and the episodes tab are still going to be populated. It's just that if you want Shows, then you need a folder for each show.

In. case this helps, this is my folder structure for Disney Animated Shorts (Same scenario as Looney Toons):

image.thumb.png.72f74d12c1f1d279e188500dff15b013.png

ROOT\KIDS SHOWS\DISNEY ANIMATED SHORTS\SEASONYEAR\SEASONYEARNUMBER - Title.extension

And it's working with Emby and Plex:

Hope this helps.

Not sure what you're saying. I have a folder for each show. Like I stated, all my TV shows are the same structure...all episodes in a folder of show name. Only a few have separate season folders "inside" TV Show parent folder. Season folders or not, it works both ways. Every other TV show works visually except for looney tunes. The ONLY difference is the naming format ...IE...S01E01 as opposed to S1930E01 that looney tunes uses.

And yes I see all of you have this ... S1930E02 ...same as me.

Only other guessed idea is that you all have had Emby for a while and older versions get populated together as I have only the latest version and maybe it's bugged(??). I'm just guessing because my LT structure is basically the same as you guys....other than a separate folder for seasons.

Update question as I'm typing this. ...OK - Looney Tunes library is just ONE show. It shows the episodes and screens in "episode" tab, but does NOT show up in "show" tab (as viewed above). Is that because it only has ONE show in library?? I can't think this would be the reason as it should still have show on that "show" tab. Then to click on it, then to show season list.

Going to delete looney tunes library and add to already existing library. If it shows up normally, then the problem is having only one show in a library.

Question: Do you have metadata fetcher setup for this library ?

image.thumb.png.b669f5796926222ccfef4c4f706f9c81.png

This particular shows named SyearExx are so special, did not worked for me until I've setup to fetch metadata exactly as above, with this config Emby will download the show info from TheTVDB but seasoning will come from TheMovie DB.

Not sure if it's the case.

In any case you're right, I have this show and emby setup 4 years ago, 5 versions ago. I don't know if there's a bug with the last version ...

Yea I have it all marked. So I added to already existing library....same thing. Shows up in "episodes" tab, but not the "show" tab. I've narrowed it down to being named (example) S1930E01 instead of S01E01.

I don't understand it, I've done exactly as you, creating a folder for the show and putting just one episode inside, no folders, nothing else:

image.png.bb3ae1a80dfa32110ac485e481aee025.png

(Please note all the other files are added by Emby once identified because my config is setup to save metadata images on show folder)

And it's identified, and shown with the season:

image.thumb.png.0a79894cc0f5c0582f2e93989786fbff.png

And inside the season:

My version of emby is 4.8.11.00 (last stable), are you in the same version ??

I don''t think can be this, but please, go into server config, your user, display settings:

image.png.5b3c616dace46602ae7135b1a260024f.png

And check if this is setup as mine:

image.png.8657ec94aceddb63262ec281b9f5ae3a.png

As I said I don't think will be this, but it's the only thing that comes to my mind can be related ...

BTW, can u paste a screenshot of your folders tab ?

I suspect this is a paths/structure issue.

Could you show your TV shows library paths (and Looney Tunes library path, if still existing)?

Edit: If Looney Toons library doesn't exist, could you tell which path you've added for its library folder?

under "shows" tab I see all other shows except looney tunes. If I have looney tunes as only show in library I get the blank "show" tab posted above. And no worries. Thanks for trying
