NAS288 11 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 First of all, thank you for the great work on Emby. I’d like to request a feature: please add an option on Apple TV to enable backdrops to be displayed in the background while browsing the homepage and library, similar to the web client. 1
Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Hi, I’m TV display mode the web app doesn’t do this randomly. It does it based on what is currently selected.

There is also no display mode switch option (like Windows where you can switch to TV display mode). It only shows a single blurred gray background, and it is unchangeable. In addition, there are no settings for background display like on Windows (randomly), browser (randomly), LG webOS (selected), or Android TV (selected). 1
Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 Right I was just pointing out that the only way to do it on Apple TV would be to match what we do in other apps in TV mode - on selection. There's no need for a display mode switch on Apple TV because it is a TV-only device.

I’ve tried the LG WebOS Emby app and the Android TV Emby app, and they can be set to use the selected movie’s backdrop image. However, the Apple TV app doesn’t have any option to change this single blurred gray background. That’s exactly what I meant — I would like to have a backdrop option on Apple TV to make the interface look nicer. Or did I misunderstand your point, and it’s actually not possible to implement this feature on the Apple tvOS app?

Luke 42077 Posted September 17, 2025 Posted September 17, 2025 HI, I mean yes it is something that we can add. Thanks.
