I have an Asustor AS3302T on ADM Version 4.3.3 and in the last 3 or 4 months Emby server seems to crash every week.  It is random so I am not able to pinpoint a particular day or time. I started a debugging log finally to see what could be going on. All other apps on the NAS have no issues just this application.  I am seeing this error in the log. Any suggestion on what can be done to fix this.

I guess first question would be why are you on an old beta?  A lot has changed in over 30 versions.

But full server logs will be needed as I have seen this "emby-server.pid' is denied." in a lot of these nas logs.

Just installed whatever was in the AppCentral for Asustor. This is the most current version on the AppCentral, which is what I am using.

Hi there, please attach the complete emby server log file. Thanks.

What exactly do you mean by crashed? How are you defining that?

When going to the web page I get "Server Connection Refused" and when opening the app on my phone or tablet I get the message that I am unable to connect to server.  The only way to get it working again is to restart the service.  All apps on the NAS are working fine; however, Emby crashes at least once a week if not more.

An IP address conflict would do that. Is the server set to a static IP address? Have you configured your DHCP server to not give out that address to something else? If something else is using that IP address, it won't be working either.

I can access the server and other apps just fine on the NAS. It is just Emby that is not accessible sometimes.

I did add a DHCP reservation for my NAS in the router. Will see if that improves anything.  It happens at least once a week.  Question; is there any benefit to giving Emby its own separate IP address than the NAS?

Hi  @dbush1031 Emby is software installed on your NAS. It is not a network device on your local network. Therefore you can't really "give Emby it's own IP address". It simply uses the address of the machine that it is installed on.

Does that answer your question?

We were watching something on Emby and during the show it stopped working. Shut down what we were watching and went to the home page and at the bottom said that it could not connect to the server.  This is really getting annoying to have to deal with each week. This file generated about the time it happened.

Hi, can you show us how you did this?

I have had this setup for a year, and nothing has changed as far as permissions to my folders. This only started occurring 3 months ago.

I see that it is also listed under Virtual Serves in my router.

It's mysterious.  Perhaps some Linux or Eby update changed the rights. You can investigate file and directory rights pretty easily.

I attached updated log files. I don't know what I should be looking for.  I really don't want to uninstall and reinstall but not really getting anywhere.

As you can see in my previous image that DHCP reservation and all the logs that I have provided that the IP has not changed.  The server crashed sometime before last night because it was running prior to that.  The only way for me to get it back up and running is to login to my NAS and restart the app in AppCentral.

Any purpose in providing the logs if it isn't giving the information that is needed?  I am at a lost and getting super frustrated for an app that I paid for.

Wild guess.  Using 0 in the IP address needs to have subnet masks that allow the 0.  Did perhaps a Linux network update make this into a problem?

Probably not related, and it is a wild guess.  I usually avoid having 0 in any IP address but I am not sure why I do that.  Ha!

The IP address was assigned by my router for the NAS when I originally set this up and hasn't changed since. The other applications I run on the NAS with the same IP but different ports run fine. I am tempted to change the standard port of Emby to see if that doesn't help, but running out of ideas on what could be crashing it as I have never had an issue up until 3 months ago and I have had this software for over 5 years.
