pagep 1 Posted September 14, 2025 Posted September 14, 2025 Summarization of DTS on Samsung TV: Samsung TVs don't support DTS audio, audio needs to be transcoded to the working format. Current state: The transcoding is working out of the box, you can open the movie and start watching it. Problem: Sometimes the audio freezes / jumps back / forward and back to the correct position When this happens the subtitles get out of sync (they are moved about several seconds) Switching subtitles doesn't work (when you switch between languages, they don't show up at all) This happens: Randomly, usually 2-3 times per a movie Very often when you pause / play the movie / move forward / back On our latest playback it happen probably 5 times Workaround: Exit the movie and start it again (sometimes helps) Exit whole Emby app and start it again Setup Local network (everything wired) Linux Emby server (it's powerful enough for transcoding, it can transcode 4k video stream on the fly without any problems) These problem happens only on DTS Audio files on the Samsung TV, haven't seen problems with any other files / transcoding etc Logs: - This happened on the latest movie No Country for Old Men played on 13 Sep 2025 embyserver-63893404800.txt ffmpeg-remux-7782cbee-fe6a-488f-8495-40aa3d183a35_1.txt

Guess: Proper installation failed to designate read write rights to directories or Possibly installation was copied from another directory and access rights were not doublechecked and updated. or some other step or sign up failure created a situation where directory expected to have subtitles is not readable for the user or subtitles had some formatting issue and failed to get copied or converted. This might happen with .sub graphic files and sometimes perhaps with .ass original files that have missing 0: at the beginning of each time code. (I have not tested this missing 0 issue as causing any problems with Emby, but it causes some other subtitle editors to be unable to load the .ass file and this shortcut time code happens a lot with online content.) pagep 1 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 Hi, I think that's just an error from Open Subtitles, I am not using that to download or manage subtitles. This specific movie had subtitles in format of SUBRIP directly in the mkv file.
Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Hi @pagep we are looking into this. Thanks.
pagep 1 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 Thanks, let me know if you would like to have more logs or I can provide some additional info. I understand that these bugs are really difficult to tackle. 1
pagep 1 Posted September 23, 2025 Author Posted September 23, 2025 Hi guys, I just talked with a family and it looks like this is not specific to Samsung TV. I got report that it happens to them also when they watch in the browser. I know that for their streams, it's transcoded to mp3.

Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
