tOLJY 49 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 I see Yep, folder A is completely deleted when the media in it is played Folder a is actually unwatched / new media and items get moved to folder B as part of my we hook action when they are played. X days later a script deleted the media from folder B. So since the unwatched folder gets deleted completely it's a new series entry in the db every time and makes sense now that it's getting the default image.
tOLJY 49 Posted September 22, 2025 Author Posted September 22, 2025 You said it's random which one it shows before getting all the.merged media - are you able to set it to it gets the first one? Either by date or row in the db? In my use case at least, it will always be the older entry.
rookies 12 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 If that is the case, I am potentially going to encounter a similar issue. I have a structure of: media/TV Shows/show/season/episodes media1/TV Shows/show/season/episodes media2/TV Shows/show/season/episodes Which structure the latest seasons/episodes get placed is managed by process and depends on how much space is consumed in each mount point. Seasons are kept to a single folder but shows can span 3 or more locations. Each mount point equates to an offline media backup with specific capacity. Additional Media X folders get created as total storage size is consumed and additional backup capacity is purchased. It's not backed up unless you have 3 copies! live, primary and offsite archive Therefore, if a show is managed per mount point I would have many versions of the same show within the database for my structure. The only thing that may mitigate this for me is that currently I have all poster items managed and replicated via and external custom scripting to all folders containing a show. -------------------------------- If I were to move entirely to allowing Emby to manage art and put the art in the media folder. What happens? if I have a show in media with 2 seasons and I add season 3 to a new path on media1, does it recognize that I have already picked images for that show and use the same ones? if I have a show that exists in media and media1, and I change the image on the merged show. Does it change them in both locations?
Luke 42077 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 No. We have a rework in progress of this that didn't make it into 4.9 but the idea is to only have one entry in the database. Until then, your best bet is to either put the same poster into both series folders, or just merge the two series folders.
rookies 12 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Would this rework include movies as well. 2 or more versions of the same movie with different editions/resolution etc. on two or more different mount points. I have that situation as well.

rookies 12 Posted September 22, 2025 Posted September 22, 2025 Possible movies could get added, it would be very similar logic and code for both?

As a precursor to that being deliver on 4.10? Could a small hotfix aimed purely at choosing the first series instead of random be introduced? Purely as an interim measure until the proper solution can make it in?

Hi, we'll look at it, but it's not as easy as what you're describing.
tOLJY 49 Posted September 25, 2025 Author Posted September 25, 2025 That's unfortunate. I appreciate that while it may seem straightforward on the surface, under the covers it is not. 1
