Images keep getting updated

For whatever reason, there is a particular show in watching and I don't like it's default image so I go into the app and change the primary poster.

Every time a new episode comes out though, the image I select is overridden and the default one comes back.

The show is still in my library, so it's not like I've removed it and when it's getting added it's brand new, the new episode is being added to an existing show.

Why is this happening? Is there a way to ensure that the poster I select stays even after new episodes are added?

After importing episode 10:

Those are two different views, first one is Series view (that uses series backdrop), the other one is Episode view (that uses that particular episode primary image/thumb).

The poster on the main view changes though

In library view? As in item primary image changes? That shouldn't be happening by itself, if you have server log from the time of last episode import and that change occurring, you can post it here, if not, post server log next time you import an episode/observe poster change.

And before you ask, my media is a zero sized avi I use as a stub file. I used to not be able to get .disc files to work and while they seem to work now, I haven't changed my script that generates the stub file yet.

I've checked and the same image reloading occurs when the media is a .disc file too.

Anyone have any idea what the issue is? Do my logs help at all?

I can't DL/open 44MB log on my mobile, hence I'm waiting to see if the Dev or some fellow member will join in.

Can you please show us an example of what exactly changes? Thanks.

Don't my screenshots earlier in the post and my logs show that? Or are you looking for something else?

The image for the Summer Hikaru Died changes when new media is added.

What are the contents of the series folder, before and after?

Posted

It's 2 folders actually, with the series merged, same library though.

Before: Folder A contains episode 10 only.

After: Folder A has ep10 and Folder B has ep11.

So I'm guessing one series folder has one of those posters, and the other series folder has the other?

No, there is no local metadata or images. All comes from the providers.

OK but I think in emby server, one series has one of those posters, and the other series has the other, right?

@tOLJYlook at it this way:

Everytime you add a new episode you do it in folder B, while your previous episodes are in folder A.

Even emby can identify that are the same show, being stored on different folders implies that each folder has his own art.

This means that your folder A has the art you selected but folder B keeps getting it automatically from the internet everytime you put there a new episode.

Try the following:

Add a new episode to folder B, before playing it, select the poster art you want.

Then select "Edit Metadata" option in folder B.

Go to last option and mark this:

If I'm not wrong this will prevent that image as well metadata in folder B will be updated again.

Hope this helps.

@DarkStar1977actually that shouldn't be necessary. I think the answer is going to be that he's got two of the same series merged together, and they each have different images. So this can be resolved by making sure both series have the same poster.

I'm confused - they are the same series

I've changed the images several times, on folder A and folder B, but no matter what I do, it loads the new images again...

Right but since you have two folders for this same series, you actually have two of this series in your server database. The server just merges them at the point of display.

But which one you see at any given time is arbitrary. Therefore, I don't think the server is actually changing your images. I think what's happening is sometimes you're seeing one, and other times you're seeing the other.

Does that help?

Oh I see

I've deleted files and changes the images so I know I'm setting it to folder a or folder B.

What would happen if I delete folder a contents completely and then a week later add new media to it? Will it keep the image I've set for it? I believe emby deleted all trace of that series once the media is deleted, no? That actually makes sense to me, I think.

I think it depends on if you deleted the actual series folder or not. If you kept the series folder then it will still be there.
