Is it possible to not have media (TV/movie) not play automatically from Android TV home screen

I just switched from the Emby for Android TV app to the Emby App (Google play store)  on my Shield TV,

with the Emby for Android TV app on shield tv when I selected play next it from the Shield TV Home Screen it would open the selected media in emby and I could select continue watching the current episode or select a different one.  I had a choice.

with the Emby app on Shield and play next (from Shield TV Home Screen)  it goes straight to playing media which means that it might play the incorrect episode if coming from another device or streamer.

so my question - is there a option in the Emby App to act like the Emby for Android TV for this particular action?

its only a issue if you watch on a different device, example, watching in basement and finish watching show, the continue watching on the shield home screen would be updated.

Later you watch on different TV on another device in bedroom, it is still showing the show you finished on the shield Home Screen so when you select it - it starts over.  

This was not a issue with the Android for TV app.

Hopefully this makes sense

Most apps just typically play from there, right? I think we just need to look at having that content refresh quicker.
