Mazak15 1 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 I recently installed emby on TrueNAS scale from the repository in the TrueNAS web UI. On my end the version installed should have been a stable but a beta was installed instead. I had trouble getting emby to find my media. After some time I did get it up and running. However as I was inspecting the installation and trying to update Emby I found that Emby had made itself root admin with full control over the entire machine. Emby should not have this kind of access should it. Is there a link that I can download the image to do a manual install?
Luke 42077 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Hi, whoever punishes the truenas plugin published a beta by mistake. I’m sure it will be corrected following the next stable release, which will be soon. Regarding root access, I’m not sure if that’s our package or the truenas plugin. I will ask our build developer.
Mazak15 1 Posted October 31, 2025 Author Posted October 31, 2025 Being that TrueNAS now recommends disabling the root account and creating new admin. accounts it seems like a security risk. I’ve recently moved to TrueNAS from a Asustor NAS and now have an appreciation for how easy the Asustor is to use.

Mazak15 1 Posted November 3, 2025 Author Posted November 3, 2025 Yes. I committed to it and found the forums and videos really helpful. I’m up and running. Emby is still by far the best media server available. 1
