apichler 5 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 Hi all. I recently upgraded from Emby Theater to Emby for Windows and the volume appears much lower in the new application than in the legacy app. Am I missing something or why is the audio volume lower in the new version? Thanks
softworkz 5065 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 There are multiple places where volume can be controlled on Windows: Master Volume Loudspeaker symbol in the taskbar Per-App Volume Mixer Settings >> System >> Sound >> Volume Mixer Inside the Emby App During playback, there's a volume slider There's also an option to keep the latter always at 100% to reduce places of volume control.
pwhodges 2012 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 (edited) If you have media with a choice of 2.0 and 5.1 soundtracks, the 5.1 sounds quieter in some situations, so if for some reason a different choice is now being made that can affect it., depending on where any downmixing is being done Paul Edited September 9, 2025 by pwhodges

I don't see the in-app volume slider in the new app. It does appear in my Emby Theater 3.0.21

softworkz 5065 Posted September 12, 2025 Posted September 12, 2025 Oh, right, that's TV mode. It doesn't show up there. You can temporarily switch off TV mode or use F9 and F10 for volume+/- Please try to set it to maximum this way - is the volume still lower than ET legacy, then?
Solution softworkz 5065 Posted September 12, 2025 Solution Posted September 12, 2025 You can rule out this "hidden volume" control with the option below: 1
apichler 5 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 Where do you find that settings page?
softworkz 5065 Posted September 15, 2025 Posted September 15, 2025 In TV mode, the page layout is a bit different, but all menus and options are the same. If you cannot follow, just disable TV mode temporarily.
apichler 5 Posted September 15, 2025 Author Posted September 15, 2025 I changed display mode to desktop, played something and got the app volume control set to full, then found the audio options you showed and enabled "ignore volume control commands". Everything is working like a charm. Thank you so much for your help. 1
