ErikaJ 65 Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 What are people using to auto update their playlist? This is needed for things like sports because every week the content changes. I have a link from my provider and in order to have a current playlist for NFL/MLB games in particular, I have to add the link every week to have the changes. If I just use the static m3u/m3u8 list, sure they still work but the channel are not telling me what is playing on those sports channels.
Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Hi So the whole URL changes? Are the changes predictable?
ErikaJ 65 Posted September 7, 2025 Author Posted September 7, 2025 Sorry for the confusion Luke. The URL stays the same. It is the m3u/m3u8 playlist for sporting events that changes. But the changes are what the vent is for the day. To be clearer say Denver is on channel 11 this week but next week there is another team that plays on that channel. This happens for all sporting events as it should because the teams play against others. In order for me to have the current playlist with the update information to populate the EPG I have to link to the URL every week. I hope this is clearer. Thank you.
Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 So the epg URL changes? If the URLs aren’t changing then you would just run the refresh guide scheduled task, no?
ErikaJ 65 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 Thanks again for the response Luke. I guess I am not making myself understandable. Currently, and the way I have been doing this for like 7+ years and more, is to click on the link the provider sends me which in turn it downloads an m3u or m3u8 file to my desktop. So, MB uses a local file. This link...http://ky-tv.cc/get.php?username=*****&password=*****&type=m3u&output=hls is the link/URL that produces the m3u or m3u8. I was not aware that MB had a place whereby I could just use the URL to get the same information and then I could "run the refresh guide". When I click on TV source, all I get is Hauppauge, M3U and HDHR but no URL option. Am I looking in the wrong place? I feel dumb if there is such a place since I have been using you product for many years and have never seen that option. Where might it be? Thank you.
ErikaJ 65 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 OMG!! I think I just figured it out! If it is the correct place, then it must be my blonde hair again lol. The TV Source setup page that I have been using forever is the place where I have been entering my download m3u/m3u8 file. I NEVER noticed that I could also enter a URL there. Wow. If this is the place, would I add my URL including mu username/PW? What a deal as this will save me some headaches every week. I hope I am correct. I will wait for confirmation, sheesh. Thank you 1
Luke 42077 Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 Yea you should be able to put a direct link to the URL there.
ErikaJ 65 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 That is soooo cool. Imagine that I have been using Emby for all these years and never thought that that was what that line was for. Going to give it a try as there are still some NFL games left to verify. Thanks again. 1
