People/Actor Images locations

Hi

I'm currently using a tool called Syncthing to replicate my Entire Emby library to two other Emby setups of my relatives. So they have a bit for bit copy of all my libraries, and this works flawlessly. The second a file in my library changes or gets updated (i.e. I update a movie cover) they instantly get it. I have disabled any metadata fetching on their end, only my end updates/downloads anything.

I've been trying to also synchronise People as well, so I have the master copy, so when I update an actor photo that was for instance showing them as a child actor when they are now an adult, or a shitty black & white image, this gets pushed out to the other sites.

I have been synchronising the AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata\people folder

And this has not been working well, they have lots of actors without images whereas I of course have them all.

I did a bit of digging on my end to find that while I have over 52000 folders in me people folder, I also have a heap in;

AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata\library\xx\xxxxxxxxxxxxxx folders.

So while the folder.jpg for Tom Cruise is in a folder named Tom Cruise-tmdb-500 under people.

The folder.jpg for Simon Pegg is in a folder called 2164ef27a90243ea943ee51f59fd3270 underĀ \programdata\metadata\library\21\

In the Simon Pegg folder under people there is only a person.nfo file. (not modified for over 3 years) and the information contained within in it is NOT what Emby shows in the Actor View.

Why are there multiple locations being used?

Is there any way to make just the people folder the one used so I can easily share that?

Hi, this isn't by design. It could be an older version of the server created it. At the very least, the upcoming 4.9 release is not doing that.

Hi Luke

Yes it is a very old install, many many years.

So just to be clear, all people images by design should ONLY be in the people folder yes? If that's the case maybe a fresh install might be the best way forward, as long as I can keep my watched history all my artwork is saved within the media folders, might be nice to have a fresh shiny & uncluttered install. How far away is 4.9, I may as well wait for that version?

Correct, yes. Should be any day now.
