MacOS App Store Version Outdated?

At this time it appears the version of the Emby app on the MacOS App Store is out of date by over 8 months. The version on the Store is 2.2.33, but the version available on Github is 2.2.39. Is there something preventing the App Store version from being updated, or has that release method been abandoned? If it has been abandoned, why has it been left on the Store to rot? We deploy this app via the App Store and Jamf to over 1900 classroom stations in our district, so we need to know if the Store is no longer a reliable deployment method.
