apichler 5 Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Server: Emby 4.8.11.0 Client: Emby Theater 3.0.21 OS: Windows 11 Subject: UI/UX Hi All. Why are the "favorites" sections not identical? Recently Movie Favorites got a toolbar for ordering/filtering (which is great), but TV Favorites remains a single row of large cover image in the lower half of the screen with show-based graphics/synopsis/info at the top. 1. One would think that favorite shows really wouldn't need a synopsis/info, since you already favorited it. 2. With a large media collection that single row can get VERY long to scroll through. Currently I think I have about 150-160 favorites in my Docu-Series library and about the same in my TV-Series library. That's less than useful with a single row of quite large cover images. Anyways... I'm a long-time (about a decade) user and I'm generally very happy with the overall product. Thank You so much for that
Luke 42077 Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Hi, they're different because the TV screen is showing two different categories. If you had favorite episodes, they would also be there in the TV favorites tab. The movies screen only has one category to display, so it's able to use the entire scroll direction.
apichler 5 Posted September 2, 2025 Author Posted September 2, 2025 (edited) Hi Luke, thanks for the response Why not just do it like tv favorites in the web version? That also shows both shows and episodes, but still scroll the entire thing. Edited September 2, 2025 by apichler
Luke 42077 Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 HI, can you please show a screenshot example comparing them to demonstrate what you are referring to? Thanks.
apichler 5 Posted September 3, 2025 Author Posted September 3, 2025 The first image shows you how Emby Theater 3.0.21 looks on my 55" tv. As you can see, you can only see 5,2 covers horizontally and with a favorites list of 150-160, that horizontal scrolling becomes a bit much. Furthermore you can barely see that you have favorite episodes if you scroll vertically. It also shows how much screen real estate the show-based info/graphics/synopsis take up. I would argue that info/graphics/synopsis is much more valuable in the full tv shows list (if that was somehow possible) than in favorites, where you probably know what the show is about. The second shows Emby Web on my Mac Pro. There I scroll vertically for everything (much less scrolling as 150-160 is covered in 22 clicks with the remote) and Favorites Episodes comes below (which I suspect is used much less than favorite shows). Just my 5 cents Thanks, Luke --a
