VicMoore 754 Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 I used the following url to grt a ThumbnailSet for a movie. ItemId is the id for the movie. let url = "/Items/"+itemId+"/ThumbnailSet"; The problem that I am reporting is that in the returned thumbnail array all of the image tags are the same. The array does not have unique snapshots for each 10 second interval. I used the thumbnail scheduled task to create the Thumbnails for my Emby Movie library. Does anyone know why I am getting ThumbnailSets that have the same image tag for every 10 second interval?
VicMoore 754 Posted August 31, 2025 Author Posted August 31, 2025 (edited) Perhaps I should explain my system and the problem a little better. I am running Emby on a Dell micro 7040 and it is attached via Ethernet to a Synology NAS which contains all of the media employed by the Emby server. I am fetching the preview Thumbnails via the "url" below for the movie SING2, where itemId is the id of the SING2 Emby media object. let url = "/Items/"+itemId+"/ThumbnailSet"; ApiClient.getJSON(ApiClient.getUrl(url)).then((jsonData) => { let thumbnails = jsonData.Thumbnails; }); The problem is that the thumbnail image tag for each position tick is the same tag. They should be tags for snapshot images captured every 10 seconds, but instead all of the image tags are for the SING2 thumb image. 2: {PositionTicks: 200000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 3: {PositionTicks: 300000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 4: {PositionTicks: 400000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 5: {PositionTicks: 500000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 6: {PositionTicks: 600000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 7: {PositionTicks: 700000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 8: {PositionTicks: 800000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} 9: {PositionTicks: 900000000, ImageTag: 'e240334b6166f5039eb06592b26936c9'} This is true for all of the movies within mu Emby library. I enabled Preview Thumbnails as follows. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Vic Edited August 31, 2025 by VicMoore
Luke 42077 Posted August 31, 2025 Posted August 31, 2025 HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
VicMoore 754 Posted August 31, 2025 Author Posted August 31, 2025 (edited) The logs attached below each cover a "refresh and replace images" for my Emby library labeled "Test." The "Test" library contains seven movies. Examples are Ghostbusters and Sing 2. For this test, none of these movies have Bif files. The "refresh metadata and image replacement" should cause the preview thumbnails to be created. I confirmed that the respective bif files were created. Unfortunately, these files do not contain tags for preview snapshots. For each movie, the preview thumbnail tags are all the same and each is a tag for the movie's thumb image. VicMoore 754 Posted August 31, 2025 Author Posted August 31, 2025 (edited) I also get the same results when using swagger The "preview thumbnails" for the movie Charade is shown below. Note that all of the "ImageTags" are the same, rather than being snapshots of the movie every 10 seconds. The details for the movie Charade itself are shown below. Note that the ImageTag below is not the same as the ImageTags above. Edited August 31, 2025 by VicMoore
Luke 42077 Posted September 3, 2025 Posted September 3, 2025 Is it only happening with this one video? Do have any plugins installed that might have tinkered with the data?
VicMoore 754 Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 (edited) @Luke I used the "Scheduled Tasks" in Emby to create the thumbnails. It created thumbnails for every movie on my Emby Test Server. None of the Preview Thumbnails were snapshots. The plugin I was using only read the thumbnails. Vic Edited September 4, 2025 by VicMoore
