mobilelawyer 2 Posted August 29, 2025 Posted August 29, 2025 I hope the moderator will move this post to a more suitable topic if I have posted in the wrong place. I have the Emby server for Mac installed on my Mac Mini at home and access my server remotely on all my devices with great success. I also have used Apple Play in my car, but just switched to Android Auto when I got a new Android phone. Everything works fine for accessing music on my new Galaxy Flip 7, but when connected to Android Auto, if I had been using Emby on the last session, the music auto starts on the exact song I was listening to when I last turned off the car. This is normal, and that is the way I have Android Auto set up to resume. The weird glitch is that when the car is restarted and I hear the music playing through Emby, it initially sounds like I am listening to music over a telephone line and broadcasted over a shortwave radio. The bandwidth is very constricted. I am still trying to narrow down the circumstances when this issue replicates. It seems to go away, over time, i.e. after a few minutes when I switch to another app and come back, or even browse to a different song in Emby. It only begins on startup when Emby was playing during the last listening session. If the restart occurs with a different app in use during the last session, playback which automatically starts when the car does is normal. The restrictive bandwidth is only temporary and only when resuming through Emby. I have not been able to replicate this behavior when simply listening directly through the Android phone. All is normal. This seems to be an Android Auto only issue. I use an adapter to give me wireless Android Auto but this issue was also present in an older adapter as well, using a different Android phone. I am going to try switching back to wired Android Auto to find out if the problem is also present in a wired connection. I suspect it won't be and that this glitch is then isolated to the wireless adapter. Before trying to trace this issue down, I would be interested to know if others have experienced anything like it before.
ebr 16169 Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 I have one car that I've seen this happen with but with CarPlay and Pandora. Stopping the music and restarting it usually fixes it.
