Android App Crashing over multiple phones (3.4.74)

Posted (edited)

The Emby android app is crashing whenever I try to stream anything. This started happening a couple of months ago and put it down to my phone being old but I've since switched from (from a Pixel 5 to Galaxy S25) and the issue persists. I've attached Emby server logs (host5 is the android app).

The crashing doesn't happen just with streaming, even just enabling logs and restarting the app prevents the app from opening; it just closes immediately. I am then unable the open the application again until I clear the app storage. Clearing just the cache does not work.

I am on version Emby 3.4.74. Android version 15.

Hi, since you're on a really old beta server build, I would try updating and see if that helps.

My bad I should have checked that prior.

That still the issue persists. Please find the new log attached on Emby Server 4.9.1.23.

This log is a fresh server restart. I've opened the app, signed in, tried to play a media file which crashed the app.

I then cleared storage, resigned in, enabled app logging, closed the app, and then when opening at again it immediately crashes.

`host6` is the phone this time.

@Kamarothare you able to try our sideload build and see if that resolves it?

Hi @Luke

Same issue unfortunately. I've also updated to the latest beta server just in case but no luck. Please find log attached.

Also for what it's worth I also tried capturing phone logs via ADB to see if there were any fatal crash logs but I saw nothing obvious but I can capture these for you if you think it'll help.

Is there a way to enable app logging without restarting the application to try and capture any additional logs?
