Changing background when clicked

I want to be able to click on a video and have it be like before where it would to show a faint image of what the film is.

But i want to keep the main background image when clicked off.

Hopefully i kept it simple

 

Would someone be kind enough to help me with this

If I understand correctly something like this.

.backgroundContainer:not(.withBackdrop){
  background-image: url(https://images3.alphacoders.com/198/198299.jpg)!important;
}
