Do you have that feeling you have just been scammed?

Have you seen an Emby TV ad on facebook or social media for a great price? Sound maybe to good to be true? You betcha, it is!

What hackers are doing is running port scans & other scans to find Emby servers that are not best secured. After they find an Emby server that's not secured remotely they will then sometimes use the login name and sell it or if they gain admin they will make more personal name logins BUT... After that ip address changes guess what happens? people come here asking why they can't login to a hacked Emby account because the actual victims ip address has changed.

DON'T PAY MONEY TO STRANGERS FOR TV UNLESS YOUR BRAIN DEAD....

How To Avoid Being Scammed? Read below

To avoid scam subscriptions, follow these steps:

  • Research the Company: Verify the legitimacy of the service provider. Check their website, read reviews on trusted platforms, and search for complaints on sites like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or Trustpilot. For example, a quick web search can reveal if others have reported the service as a scam.
  • Read Terms and Conditions: Before signing up, carefully review the subscription terms, including billing frequency, cancellation policies, and any hidden fees. Scammers often bury unfavorable terms in fine print.
  • Beware of "Free Trials": Many scams lure users with free trials that auto-convert to paid subscriptions. Note the trial duration and set a reminder to cancel before it ends if you’re not interested. Check your bank statements for unexpected charges.
  • Use Secure Payment Methods: Opt for credit cards or trusted payment platforms like PayPal, which offer better fraud protection than debit cards or direct bank transfers. Avoid sharing sensitive info like bank account details.
  • Monitor Bank Statements: Regularly check your bank and credit card statements for unauthorized charges. If you spot something unfamiliar, contact your bank immediately to dispute it.
  • Avoid Suspicious Links or Ads: Don’t click on pop-up ads or links in unsolicited emails/texts offering subscriptions. These often lead to phishing sites designed to steal your information.
  • Check for Easy Cancellation: Legitimate services make cancellation straightforward. If a subscription requires you to jump through hoops (e.g., calling during specific hours or mailing forms), it’s a red flag.
  • Use Virtual Cards or One-Time Payments: Some banks offer virtual card numbers for online purchases, which can limit recurring charges. This is especially useful for one-time trials.
  • Be Wary of Too-Good-to-Be-True Offers: If a subscription seems unusually cheap or promises extravagant benefits, it’s likely a scam. Compare similar services to gauge realistic pricing.
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off—pushy sales tactics, vague details, or pressure to act quickly—pause and investigate further.

If you have a bad feeling someone is trying to scam you make an open post on the forums for all to see and read and help!

While this is mostly good advice i do not believe it belongs in this section. There is a section at the bottom of this board that would be more suited. Also if anyone is so foolish as to not follow most of those suggestion they are probably too foolish to follow them anyway.

If you are purchasing access to an Emby server then they are using the software outside of its license and they may disappear at any time.

Instead, why not setup your own server?

Yeah I pay monthly for my server it's the only payment I don't mind paying 😀
