Emby version 4.8.11 was released in March. If you installed last night then what version did you install? There haven't been updates for months. Do you have the deb package downloaded already? Try: $ sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.8.11.0_amd64.deb

Q-Droid 989 Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 You have to run the command from the same directory/folder where the .deb file is located. Navigate (cd) to that folder then try again with "sudo dpkg..." not "$ sudo dpkg...".
DBreeze1982 0 Posted August 26, 2025 Author Posted August 26, 2025 All i know is that the .deb file is located in my downloads folder . I have no idea how the directory system works or where the terminal function is looking for the directory. I followed an out of date guide with emby that took it from the download directory. Thinking ubuntu is hard work haha
Q-Droid 989 Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 Read a basic primer on Linux. But yeah, if that's too much then stick with Windows because the installation is the simplest part of what you'll need to know to run Emby on Linux.
