http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/dashboard is not working to login to Emby dashboard. If I change it to server internal IP address http://192.168.xx.xxx:8096/web/index.html#!/dashboard the login screen comes up. It was working fine yesterday and now when I select configure Emby the browser opens and just sits on the Emby logo.

Sometimes accessing Emby for the first time (or incognito) can take forever. Using an incognito tab in Google Chrome, it takes 45-seconds to load app.emby.media for the first time

I'm not sure why this is though, accessing my server directly (via domain) seems to be a lot faster but still has the exact same issue. It seems to have to do with all the different assets/files that are being loaded when visiting the page without cache.

Can you check the following:

  1. Open an incognito Chrome windows (Open Chrome and press Ctrl + Shift + N)
  2. Press F12 to open the console
  3. Go to the Network tab
  4. Now go to your website (make sure it's the first time visiting)

Keep checking the Network tab - is something happening, then it's loading.
If it's idle or seems stuck, there's probably an error in the Console tab.

Thanks for the response, but I am not using Chrome or incognito to access the server via the web browser. When I select configure Emby from the system tray it launches the browser and localhost:8096 to login in. It had been working through yesterday evening and this morning it launches the browser and just sits on the Emby logo.

It doesn't matter if you're using Chrome or incognito - if something changed, the IP, the browser cache has invalidated or some other reason, will cause the site to reload all assets as I explained above.

How long did you wait for the logo to load? If it's not loading, I would suggest clearing your browser's cache and temporary files.

Really now way to tell without logs and probably browser console logs to look for errors.

Have you tried restarting the host machine and starting Emby server?

I cleared the browser cache before I saw this reply and that seemed to fix the login issue. But I also noticed in the dashboard it no longer recognizes or at least it's not indicating that it's behind the VPN anymore.

hi, what do you mean by that? Emby doesn't have a VPN indicator.

Disregard. I found it. Somehow the "Allow Remote Access" got disabled, so the dashboard was not showing the VPN public IP address. Not sure how it got disabled, but all good now. Thanks for the follow-up.
