Zealot 1 Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 So I added the 2005 show invasion (IMDB, MovieDB, TheTVDB). Emby correctly identified all of these sources, but I have the Anime plug-in loaded, and it identified the show as "Invasion of the Booby Snatchers (2005)" (not linking because of adult content). When I remove the AniDB reference and hit refresh metadate it simply reloads the incorrect AniDB information (people, studio, genre, etc.). Is there any way to (preferably) keep the Anime plug-in from identifying incorrect shows or alternatively to disable it from operating in certain shows after it has been identified as doing a poor job? Or something else? Thanks, Simon
Luke 42077 Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 Hi there, what fetchers are enabled on the library, and in what order?
pwhodges 2012 Posted August 24, 2025 Posted August 24, 2025 The order of your metadata fetchers is crucial - the first one with a match is the one which identifies the show, so if you add others before that, a change of identification is possible. Lower positioned metadata sources can be used to fill in information which is missing in the first one, but there is often a danger that the arrangement of episodes and seasons is different, leading to confusion. What benefit do you hope to gain from using the Anime plugin sources? I found it gave me nothing but trouble... Paul 1
Zealot 1 Posted August 25, 2025 Author Posted August 25, 2025 Thanks for replying. I would guess that the Anime plug-in is first in order since it is listed first. How do I change that? I didn't see anything in the settings to change the fetcher order. As far as benefits, I just wanted more complete metadata. I figured if someone went to the trouble to create a plug in that the regular sources weren't that good. I appreciate the help. Regards, Simon '

Regards, Simon ' Via the Emby Server settings -> Libraries -> Select your Library and scroll to "Metadata downloads" you should be able to use the "handle" to sort a download above or below others. For example if I wanted to move "The Open Movie Database" to the first position, I would use the handle and drag it above "TheMovieDB".

Well, I am less interested in great detail in the metadata than in the show itself, I admit, so you may have a different view. But TVDB (the default for shows) is really pretty comprehensive for anime. I have, for two very rare anime, updated their database myself rather than looking for another - it's really quite easy. RanmaCanada 494 Posted August 25, 2025 Posted August 25, 2025 Luke has been managing the Anime plugin since the dev left, and he's been doing so for years. I have an open bounty to anyone who can create a functional one like what Plex has, but no one seems to either have the time, or the want, as it's a big job. None of us use the Anime plugin as it has brought nothing but trouble as @pwhodgesstates.
evil_crab 23 Posted August 26, 2025 Posted August 26, 2025 (edited) Here's my metadata fetcher setup for the anime library, except for a couple of weird cases (cough cough Monogatari cough) it works well. I had some issues with MAL and AniList fetcher reliability, but I was able to fix them, and I think Luke merged all my changes a while ago, so the published plugins should have them. A couple of tips: Activate Allow adult metadata for the library. On MAL some shows are incorrectly marked as NSFW and the plugin won't fetch their metadata without this setting Add MAL API key to the plugin. This way it'll use the API instead of ripping the data from the web pages. I also disabled Download character metadata option for the AniList plugin, but it's a matter of preference Edited August 26, 2025 by evil_crab
Zealot 1 Posted August 26, 2025 Author Posted August 26, 2025 Thank you all. I had never seen the options under each library and didn't even know they were there! 1
