TrueNAS vs Linux for Emby server AND TrueNAS Build Recommendations

Long time Synology user - bought a mini PC last year and built a Linux media server -- it runs Emby well!

However I need some extra storage (the main reason) to try to get rid of some of my Cloud Backup fees for my 2 Synology NAS's that run Surveillance Station for my wife and daughter's stores.   I have 21 TB of data (some really important family and business things, good bit of surveillance data and a whole lot of downloaded media).  I probably don't have the best backup plan but I have been paying over $200 per month for Cloud storage

So I decided to take that money and build another storage NAS , run TrueNAS for RAID redundancy - pay for it with the money I am spending on so much Cloud backup [plus or minus put the TrueNAS server at another location - offsite for protection] -- I could probably cut the MUST HAVE offsite storage (cloud) to less than 5gb.

Anay thoughts on building a TrueNAS nas that could run Emby well if I ever decided to stop running it on my Linux media server?   But its main purpose is data backup

Hi, hopefully it goes without saying that for TrueNAS I would only consider Scale.

Yes I had seen that as far as probably multiple reasons

Should, if I were to run Emby on TrueNAS,  is it best run in docker environment?

That or use our TrueNAS scale instructions.
