With a new shiny version of Debian just released, I thought I'd try it out on an old Lenovo Ideapad (that was running a pretty old version of Ubuntu)

Most things seem to be working fine, but I can't get the latest 3.0.21 emby Linux app to play anything.  It installs with all the dependencies, and I can log in, but I'm getting a spinning blue circle for most things and then a Playback Error message for everything else.

I'll message a log file.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  Can you at least get the website updated so other people don't waste their time trying to install emby on Linux while waiting for the new version?

Already complained about it months ago but Emby staff doesn't want to remove it, it looks like they try to compete with Plex and fake marketing promises !

(that post will probably be censured by Emby staff before you get time to see it !)

I am still using the Linux Emby Theater app version 3.0.19 on my Linux Mint 22.1.  I never upgraded as I read about the problems with later versions.  Not sure if it will help anyone else, but you might give it a try.

By curiosity what desktop manager do you use ? KDE/Gnome or a lightweight one ? I suspect the main issue is that and the graphic manager (X11 or Wayland). Here on KDE with Wayland it doesn't work on Debian 11 and 12 (well it plays a media but you have no control and the app itsefl detaches of the video player :(

Thanks for the suggestion, but trying 3.0.19 on Debian 13 with KDE desktop doesn't work either.  I'm sure it's a small target audience, but telling someone on the website something is going to work when you know it doesn't isn't good.

I use Cinnamon.  Sorry it didn't help.
