Kennyw888 5 Posted August 19, 2025 Posted August 19, 2025 I confess that I don't have many titles that are HDR/HDR10/Atmos encoded because I normally rip my Blu-ray without any HDR because I had a 65" LG Nano and quite frankly did not handle HDR properly. Picked up this OLED TV a few weeks ago and was surprised that I even had anything in HDR , but while watching MI Dead Reckoning part 1 today, Emby was closed 4x by the TV (presumably) all with the same message about allowing for more memory and as the title says, Emby restarts. Perhaps Emby is not properly releasing memory space? Rip was 25mb/s and I as this was done over two years ago, I do not recall exactly what I did. I did not experience this with The Hunt for Red October in HDR10, so perhaps it could be related to Dolby Atmos. I will try to find some time to find another title I have in Dolby and rip again, but would like to have some guidelines from the Devs to see if there is some specific test they would like me to do so the issue can be corrected.
NAS288 11 Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 (edited) yep, Same issue as yours. allowing for more memory and restarts LG G5 55in Edited August 22, 2025 by NAS288
Luke 42077 Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Hi, it seems content-specific. We are looking into it. Thanks.
prunhardt 3 Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 (edited) Hi. Just bought an LG OLED48C54LA, and I seem to have the same issue with Emby LG, although the memory message does not appear. Emby LG just crashes and reatarts. Any update on this? Emby on the Nvidia Shield doesn't have this problem, but the image quality is a lot less. I have AI upscaling active on the LG. Could that be part of the problem? Edited October 2, 2025 by prunhardt

nanuk 36 Posted October 4, 2025 Posted October 4, 2025 (edited) Same problem here... after about an hour of watching suddenly the message "to allow for more memory" appears then Emby restarts. This happend the first time after installing latest webos update yesterday or after installing the new emby server version 2 days ago... difficult to say The last year this never happend and i used emby a lot The content i've watched when the message appeared was 4K DV with DTS all played "direct" without any trancoding. daiv_ 0 Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 (edited) I have an LG C4 with no issues, but I recently picked up an LG C5 and seems to exhibit this issue. I get small stutters on 4k HDR / Atmos content after about 20 minutes and then the app seems to crash to a black screen before restarting around 30/35 mins. No errors on the TV, no errors on the emby server log. My C4 doesn't handle Dolby vision within MKVs, like the C5 is doing, so the software version on the C4 is older, not sure if it is related to that. Edited October 16, 2025 by daiv_
AlecTheDalek 1 Posted October 19, 2025 Posted October 19, 2025 @daiv_Oddly enough I also have an LG C4 - which doesn't have this issue - and an LG C5 which does I'm not always watching high bitrate content (1080p HEVC 4Mbps on this occasion) although it also happened on 4k Dolby Vision. daiv_ 0 Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 (edited) Yeah I have the same line in my emby server log too. It seems to have gotten worse lately - I get random frame drops / skips within a few minutes and then the app crashes every 20 minutes or so now Quote The last event on the server log is 2025-10-19 14:51:16.157 Info SessionManager: PlaySession a47d709aa9bc48888e65f8e4595772b6 has gone idle while playi ng Quote Edited October 24, 2025 by daiv_ Quote / removal of assumptions on C4/C5 and where the bug is
daiv_ 0 Posted October 24, 2025 Posted October 24, 2025 (edited) Looks to be a bug in the webOS 25 media player, lots of comments on this thread describing my issue (and I think the rest of the threads). https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/1m3sfi5/lg_g5_media_player_memory_leak_causing_stutters/ My C4 is still webOS 24, so that explains why it's unaffected.
