PLS net radio via DLNA won't play - other options?

Hi There;

I recently brought a Yamaha RX-A8A, and so far have configured it's SERVER input source to read my Emby Library via DLNA, which works brilliantly except for PLS URL's.

I have configured in my Emby via IPTV the Digitally Imported PLS url's for about 15 channels we enjoy, and these play absolutely fine on the Emby Android App, and both Windows & Linux PC's.

However when the Yamaha Receiver tries to play the PLS url's via their music-cast App, it can not be played.

I also tried strm files, again with the PLS url within the strm file, and those don't even play on my windows PC web browser Emby.

Is there anything else I can try to play PLS url's?

Thanks

All;

Nevermind.  I had a formatting issue from the DI.FM website to strm files.

All works now.

Please close/lock.

Hi All;

This has progressed slightly but with a new error.  I have done the following;

  • created
    channel_name.strm

    and done this for every channel.  These are http url's with no extension on the ends.

  • Each strm file is in a single folder, which is mounted in docker.

  • Created a new music library called "DI.FM".

  • Manually uploaded the channel images via the Emby web.

I can play all channels via my Emby Web interface.

I can can view all the new channels on the Yamaha MusicCast android app, via DLNA to Emby, including images.

They however, do not play.  Unless, I play them first in Emby.  I only have to play them for a few seconds in Emby, then I can play them on the Yamaha Receiver.

How do I fix this?

Maybe Strm Extract

But no idea why play from DLNA would not trigger the probe the same as play in Emby client as I would assume play from DLNA is getting unknown mediainfo on first play as there is no media info for strm until first play.

Hi Happy2Play;

This worked a treat, thanks for this!

I added that StrmExtract plugin, and all my channel strm's run first time now after a server/emby reboot.

Thanks a heap!

Off to get a Premium License I think.

Thanks to all those who made Emby what it is!

  • Thanks 1
