Darius 14 Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Hi folks, So my reasoning is the following when it comes to that request: The end user can already download subtitles from online sources, and the number one reason for people doing so is generally the fact that ASS subtitles do not play well with browsers and mobile devices all the time. That being said often as the releases can vary slightly in timestamps or in the way they are segmented, the downloaded subtitles will require to apply an offset and some level of tinkering before they work and that is of course only if they are found from said online sources. If the option to extract and then convert to SRT was offered that would help the end user to get rid of the necessity to find the right offset before playing an episode, it also avoids translations that may be poorer that the original ASS or just simply not available online. How I see it would be just a few lines with some ffmpeg magic which is already used in the project to extract them, convert them and put them next to the file with any nfos, thumbs, etc. The original files would remain untouched. I hope you will consider this, thanks for reading.
