aaaa123 0 Posted November 4, 2025 Author Posted November 4, 2025 @Luke@seanbuffThe problem persists. I'm using Docker to deploy Emby, and the current version is the latest official version 4.9.1.80. Video playback still consumes memory; both fast-forwarding and playback use memory. Even after closing the webpage, the memory doesn't automatically release; it only releases memory by restarting the container or limiting the container's total memory size. Without limiting it, it continuously consumes memory indefinitely.
Bims0n 14 Posted November 5, 2025 Posted November 5, 2025 What is your DSM version? Your docker UI seems kinda old, maybe try updating this package + your DSM version

This is a very serious problem, but I don't think the Emby developers are taking it seriously. My friends all experienced severe memory usage issues after upgrading to version 4.9. I've upgraded to version 4.9.5.0, and the memory usage has reached 7.3GB. My NAS has 16GB of RAM and I can still use it, but what will happen to us users if it continues to consume so much RAM? I want to ask the Emby developers, have you considered this problem? Many NAS devices with very little RAM will be unable to use Emby services. Don't you Emby developers find this problem strange? Why was it normal in version 4.8, and why are users only experiencing this problem after upgrading to version 4.9? Emby developers, I want to tell you that this is a very serious matter, not a trivial one. Okay, even if I've sent you the logs, if your developers don't seriously analyze this problem from version 4.9 onwards, it will forever remain with Emby. embyserver.txt

That frees up memory for me. Also, i have been sending @sa2000logs of the same problem and it seems to be a docker "problem" where it shows the memory usage of EVERYTHING the docker container touches. So all files that your system has cached (btfs and ZFS both caches a lot) will be shown to use memory in the container. An example is running "docker stats" and "top" and you will see they show different memory usage for Emby. So it *MIGHT* just be cached memory that will be released when ever needed. It could ofc. be something else and be Emby it self, i'm just posting what @sa2000found out from the logs and told me.

I'm using the suite version of Emby, and I don't care about this issue anymore. I've given up.
