djdevon3 8 Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Woke up this morning to a Windows 11 update (2025-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5063878) that hosed my Emby Theater GUI on my TV. Everything is tiny. Even setting everything to extra large icons does not work. The home screen has kind of larger thumbnails but the rest of it such as recently watched, new movies, etc.. still has tiny icons. Normally I have about 6 icons per row now there are 18. My settings in general for icon sizes are set to default. Tried small and large and that only seems to affect the home screen items at the top. Is it possible my TV just decided to run in a higher resolution? The desktop icons and resolution look normal though. Seems to only affect Emby? Did Emby push out a recent update that might have caused this?
Solution softworkz 5065 Posted August 13, 2025 Solution Posted August 13, 2025 @djdevon3 - Cab you show your Windows display settings for the TV? Like for example here:

djdevon3 8 Posted August 14, 2025 Author Posted August 14, 2025 It's in grandmas room on a huge 50" TV with 4K resolution but she cannot read the tiny labels or icons in 4K. I probably changed it to 1080p long ago. The windows update must have reset the resolution back to 4K and I just forgot it was supposed to be in 1080p. Set it to 1080p and everything looks normal again. The only time I really ever pay attention to it is when she complains "the tv is broken", no matter what the issue is. This was not an Emby issue. Thank you for your assistance. 1

Thank you for your assistance. Thanks for the explanation. Please note that the Emby app is also High-Dpi aware. When you set the resolution to 4k, and you set the Scale value accordingly, you will get properly sized content in the Emby App as well. (1920x1080 though, it better in performance and more reliable when you need something that "just works")

In display settings if I choose between small and large it only changes the home screen icons at the top. Any idea how to change the size of the movie icons. Something isn't scaling correctly. You mention scale value. Where would I find that? I'm using the dark theme if that matters. Have also noticed some changes in the way the dark theme behaves. When scrolling the list of A-Z used to be on the left, now it's on the right. I'll assume there were some GUI theme changes and something isn't scaling properly.

djdevon3 8 Posted October 11, 2025 Author Posted October 11, 2025 This issue has been completely resolved as of a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure how or why but everything is showing up as it should again and I didn't change anything. There were physical changes in the dark theme such as the scrolling alphabet being on the right side, text labels too small to read even in 1080p on a 50" screen. There was something that changed the GUI. Now everything is back to how it was. On default settings icons are large again and labels are legible from far away. I still have no idea what caused the issue, what caused it be fixed, but it's back to how it always used to be. Grandma is very happy. 1
softworkz 5065 Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Thanks for the update. The app has never changed, though, and it doesn't use any outside code (like the old ET Threater did). So, whatever has changed was on your side.
