syvcxm 23 Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 (edited) Assuming that one series is rated TV-MA and the user access restriction is TV-14, this series is not visible in the library view. However, some episodes in this series are rated TV-14, so due to these compliant episodes, it appears in the latest section? This seems unreasonable because if a series is restricted, it should be completely invisible, including the ‘Latest’ section on the home page. server version: 4.9.1.17 beta releated: Edited August 8, 2025 by syvcxm
Luke 42077 Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Hi, did you check the metadata editor for the episodes? They might be overriding the series rating with something different.

Another issue related to my feedback: Series entries that are not displayed in the user's library view due to rating control appear on the ‘Latest’ section, and can be opened by clicking on them.

I discovered another issue: some episodes [TV-14] under 'invisible' series [TV-MA] in the library view can be searched, which is related to the issue discussed above. Before displaying the search results for episodes, should we check their parent series rating, since you searched for results that are ‘invisible’ in the library view? Try blanking out the rating for the episode so that it will inherit from the series.

Thanks for your reply. This is a workaround solution, I guess. In that case, I will have to deal with the restricted series one by one, as their rating data may be as follows: - Series A [TV-MA] from TMDB - S01E01 [TV-14] from OMDB It seems that I still need to lock the metadata for each episode to prevent them from being overwritten when refreshed metadata. This issue unexpectedly opens up the ‘invisible’ series, but at least the episodes that can be viewed are those that meet the rating restrictions. Compared to this, I request that the issue of being able to search for the ‘invisible’ movie collection be addressed as soon as possible, as this issue is much more serious. Simply entering a few keywords can search for movie collection that should never appear. if length of visible movies under collection is 0 => this collection should not be displayed.
syvcxm 23 Posted August 8, 2025 Author Posted August 8, 2025 1 hour ago, Luke said: Try blanking out the rating for the episode so that it will inherit from the series. Furthermore, I think that the design of the series and episode ratings is inconsistent in the following way: Suppose there is a series as follows: set user access rating limit: [TV-14] South Park (1997) [TV-MA] - Season 01 - S01E01 [TV-14] Since the series "South Park" is rated [TV-MA], but some episodes are rated [TV-14]; If Emby prioritises respecting the series rating, so it won't display in the library view, but the series "South Park" will appear in the “Latest” section on the homepage, and episodes with [TV-14] rating will appear in search results. In that case, shouldn't the series "South Park" appear in the library view, with only episodes that meet the rating [TV-14] included? This would at least ensure consistency in visible results, avoiding the situation where a series or episodes doesn't exist in the library but can be accessed from elsewhere.

Yes, IMO, this is the actual issue. Everything else is behaving exactly as the data is telling it to.
