michaeltruncale 6 Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 I also have a similar issue to this specifically only on the TV running the Android OS on a 65" Sony 4K TV. Previously using the same TV I had no issues, my Emby Server was on a PC - I "upgraded" to a Mac mini M4 and now all other clients, even simultaneous clients all run perfectly fine **except** for the Sony TV does the same behavior, it freezes, I'm playing the same media that the older PC played fine on that device so it's likely something to do with the Apple Silicon Emby Server and Android OS Apps.
Luke 42077 Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 @michaeltruncale Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
michaeltruncale 6 Posted August 7, 2025 Author Posted August 7, 2025 @Luke I previously had Emby setup on an older Windows 7 Pro box running an i3-2120T, all the media, including 4K content, and same movies worked fine on the Sony 65" 4K TV. We had a power surge and it blew out my HTPC (Emby server) and I got the new Mac mini M4 and setup Emby Server on that instead, I had backups of my library and was able to recreate my entire catalog. playing media on the Sony 65" 4K TV has issues where after a few minutes of playing content it will freeze. Typically it's on 4K content, sometimes it's after just a few minutes (3-5), other times it's longer (15-20), it will then continue to struggle, but if I exit out and then go back in and resume it usually will give us another 15-20 minutes. I tested out streaming to six separate clients with 4K content and all works just fine, these were a mix of various clients. None had an issues except for the Sony 4K tv running the Android OS. I did not have these issues when I was using the older Windows box and never ran into any playback issues. The only change that has occurred is the server changed from the Windows 7 Pro on a 10+ old i3-2120T to a Mac mini M4. The same files played on the same Sony TV previously without error. There were no error messages displayed on the TV, it just freezes, sometimes if we wait long enough it will play a little bit more of the content, and then freeze again, and so forth. Server logs, and playback transcoding logs attached. I had downloaded the plugin to enable Diagnostics and have enabled the force transcoding, which usually helps make the issue occur less frequent. However it still occurred. If you are using the Roku or Android TV specific app, please also follow the instructions below to send a log from the app. <-- I've sent a log from the App as well Exactly what you were doing and what happened. I was playing a movie, issue occurred as described above Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem The Old Guard The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5) Around 3:09am EST / 12:09am PST The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time Michael ffmpeg-transcode-d3d5df49-4273-47df-b05a-8f08c198abd2_1.txt embyserver-63890121600.txt ffmpeg-directstream-523bd99c-786a-4b9c-8ddd-6d532ce17959_1.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-directstream-95de3214-4281-4e13-bf69-a4f1866f69f9_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-41afd2a3-abed-43c2-a097-1ff01f2230c2_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-0a25bfef-18d9-40c9-9685-403da50c372e_1.txt ffmpeg-directstream-8e296cbb-166d-4c54-a56b-9918b7528ad7_1.txt
Luke 42077 Posted September 30, 2025 Posted September 30, 2025 @michaeltruncaleare you still having an issue with this?
michaeltruncale 6 Posted October 1, 2025 Author Posted October 1, 2025 Well, no, but, I stopped using the Mac Mini as my Emby Server and got a Mini Pc instead. I can spin up an instance and test it again on the Mac Mini though and see if it still has issues, let me know. Ironically my Emby Server on the Mini Pc stopped working tonight.
