m9x3mos 1 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Hello All, Wondering if anyone has any ideas that I might be able to fix this. I have a number of shows including the star trek picard series that I converted to digital files. They were originally 16:9 content with black bars top and bottom. Using Handbrake, I re-encoded them to be 2.39:1 to remove the bars. This works great on my PC with the web client and my phone as I can change the aspect ratio to cover and have it use the entire screen. However when I try that on my Nvidia Shield Pro (or non Pro version as well as Samsung TV) it smears a line of pxels along the right side of the image and is practically unwatchable like that. This is what it looks like on the TV. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this. If it helps, for this test, this was how I had Handbreak setup. I am currently running Emby Server version 4.9.1.14 in a Docker Container on my TrueNAS box. I also have a Windows install of Emby Server and that exhibits the same behavior.

m9x3mos 1 Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 I also tried setting Anamorphic to none to force it not to use that to see if that would help, seems to have not made a difference in my recent test with either H265 or AV1. I have also tested with having emby live transcode down to 1080p 10 Mbps and set aspect ratio to cover and that had no effect on the problem. Neither did enabling playback correction. Not sure if those details help at all.
ebr 16169 Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 But the file before you ran it through Handbrake does not exhibit this issue?

It does not but I think that is because the ratio of the source is already 16:9 so it doesn't change the zoom or ratio of the content at all.

m9x3mos 1 Posted August 7, 2025 Author Posted August 7, 2025 I should clairify that on the converted file, if I play back the file without changing the aspect ratio in the Emby UI it looks correct. Only after change the aspect ratio in Emby UI on the Android TV does the problem appear.
Luke 42077 Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 OK that’s interesting. We’ll try to reproduce this. Thanks.
