Solution yocker 2067 Posted October 12 Author Solution Posted October 12 (edited) So, it has taken some time but i finally finished making the limit plus fixing a good amount of bugs. Anyway.. This plugin is now closed source, while the old source code is undoutbly out there, this will limit the "damage" of the time limit feature and help prevent people selling hourly access to their Emby servers. There is now a limit of 3 different users having a time limit active on them. This should be enough for most people that want to limit their kids watch time. I have been considering for a good while to make an option to buy a key to open up for more but i don't like the idea of being responsible if something goes wrong and people loosing their money. So 3 people limit is what it will be with no way of unlocking more. There will not be a Github repo for it either and this place will be the only place to download the plugin. You are ofc. still allowed to use and share it how ever you like, i don't care about that. As an incentive to use the new version a good amount of bugs have as said been fixed in the new version. Please report any bugs to me here and i will look at it asap. Edited October 13 by yocker 2 3
yocker 2067 Posted October 13 Author Posted October 13 Uploaded a new version (1.7.0.1), downloadable on the frontpage. Hotfix to a bug where people could circumvent the time limit using a specific order of events and two clients. Pretty elaborate way of circumventing it so i didn't catch that in my testing. 1
Lessaj 600 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I have updated the plugin and will provide any feedback from my friends if they mention anything is not working properly. I only use the "Transcode Notification" and "Resolution Blocking" features of the plugin, I don't need anything else from it. I looked back over the thread to see if I asked about this before and it doesn't seem like I did, if I or someone else did then I apologize, Essentially, I'm perfectly fine with 1080p content being transcoded (audio and video) but for 4k content I'm only okay with audio transcoding, and with the current setup for "Resolution Blocking" it ends up blocking 4k playback entirely even if it's just audio being transcoded - and I would also be fine with remuxing the container too which I believe also gets reported as transcoding though I don't think I've seen that happen on that content. I don't currently have "Transcode Blocking" enabled, so it's only the "Resolution Blocking" configuration that is preventing this. For example, my friend's Samsung TV app/soundbar setup doesn't support TrueHD so even my 1080p content with TrueHD tracks have to have the audio transcoded, which works fine and isn't being blocked, but 4k playback with TrueHD needing to be transcoded is blocked. They know to play the 1080p version if there are issues with the 4k taking too long to receive the chunks, but I'd like to open that option to them.

You might have downloaded the version on the front page before i got around to changing it. What version are you using?

I'm on 1.7.0.1 but this goes back to even earlier versions, I backed up 1.5.8.0 as the last version I was using before going to 1.7.0.0.

Lessaj 600 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Just now, yocker said: Did you have this option enabled? Yes, but "Transcode Blocking" is not enabled at all, so this setting shouldn't be relevant right? As mentioned it's transcoding audio for 1080p just fine.
Lessaj 600 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Oh I was just trying in my browser and it didn't block me, so maybe it will work for them. I will ask them to try. 1
Lessaj 600 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Having said that, while it pops up the message, it doesn't actually prevent the playback like it used to. You can just click okay and it keeps playing. It will pop back up, so obviously that would be annoying, but it used to completely back out of the player and pop up the message. 1

Yeah, i just discovered that too. It's sending the wrong command atm. will fix it and test some more. If that is the only bug this should be a quick fix. 1
