JanKol 2 Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Hello, I am reacting to my last post Primary image not generated (missing) for folders with sub-folders-only, but from a little bit different point of view, as the last post is without any answer. I have got an idea that I could develop a simple C# program which would mount the Emby DB file, find folders without a primary image, and add a link to the existing poster.jpg. I started an investigation of the Emby DB file, but due to my limited knowledge of SQL and DBs in general, I failed to find a linkage between poster.jpg for a specific media file and the folder's primary image. I am using the program DB Browser for SQL Lite to explore the Emby DB. I have already discovered the table "MediaItems", and in this table I was able to find a record (item) for the specific media file with a path to poster.jpg, record for the sub-folder containing the mentioned media file and record for the "problematic" folder containing sub-folder with the media file. "Problematic" = no primary image generated - see my previous post. I am not sure whether there are additional images (like poster.jpg) generated for the folder's primary images, or if there are links to existing primary images to save up storage space. But in the table "MediaItems" I found out that records for media files themselves (type = 18) have a link to the poster.jpg, but records for folders (type = 3) do not have the link. And this stopped me. I tried to understand the tables' interconnectedness, but with no luck. Could somebody explain to me how primary images for folders are being generated by Emby, so I could follow the same procedure with my C# program to resolve primary images for problematic folders? Thanks, Jan
Luke 42077 Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Hi, it is the Images column but I think you are going to have a really hard time parsing and editing that data. I really wouldn't suggest doing it.

I know that I might be asking for internal information, but I will try it. I will understand if you refuse to answer. Regarding this format: "???\\poster.jpg*637773365267513837*Primary*464*336*null": How to calculate number "637773365267513837"? Or can I simply re-use this number? Do I need to specify resulution for primary images for folders? I found out that folders with media files have "*0*0*null" while folders with sub-folders only have e.g. "*464*336*TopLeft" (those folders were added in the past, long time ago) Thank you in advance for such information. Regards, JanKol
