ignore metadata for files

how can i tell emby not to search for metadata for certain folders. i would just rather the file names displayed in the library for some items without effecting the whole library.

for example, i have a serias with season 1-5. In the series folder i also have a folder called random episodes.   when i put episodes in the random episode folder emby tries to scan them in and associate metadata with them but i dont want that. i just want emby to show that folder in the library under the seris as "random episodes" and keep the original filenames in emby

Name those episodes as Specials high enough that there's no match with online providers, i.e. S00E100, S00E101... or S00E1000, S00E1001...

Is that the only way, it would be nice to keep the file names. There should be an option to just right click a folder and remove it from detection.   The problem is i dont want to uae home movies because, well there not home movies.... they should be in the series folders under specials etc and have a way to disable them from being detected OTHER than trying to trick emby into skipping scans for files by manipulating library scan settings.

for one this is only a temporary fix. who wants to spends hours putting bandaids all over their library only for a metadata scan to wipe everything out. is also very tedious.

Hi, you can lock the metadata for individual episodes or entire seasons using the metadata editor.

If the Metadata lock option is selected on a series, will this also exclude the series from manual refreshes or scans of Metadata?

When I select the series and lock Metadata, then add the specials/random episodes folder, some of the episodes from that folder will end up in some other season folder and makes it hard to keep it all together.

I just want to keep it all together with the names that make sense to me instead of episode number If possible..

Will you add a way to define a folder in a series as ignored by metadata scans plzzzzz

It will be excluded from both.

When i try to lock the metadata emby still tries to orginize them in the library into other series/versions of other episodes.   Will You please add a way to ignore an entire directory within a series/whole series so that emby only shows the folder name and file names.

even with metadata locked, i scan library files, speical folder detected and i've tried many other folder name names, but it will try to say there is only 10 files in that folder when there is in fact 25 but the other 15 get organized into some other season as a different version of an episode.

for simplicity how hard would it be to just implement a way of doing this painlessly..

i tried the new update, thanks for implementing an ignore option for the media library. ive add a file .embyignore to a folder called "cast interviews"  that has 22 short 3 minutes clips in that folder.   when emby scans it in, its creating .nfo files about the clips that are not even related to the episode. but also im pretty sure they should be ignored when including .embyignore

when emby is done scanning it says 22 items have been added to the series, then i go into that special folder from in emby and only see 12 items.

HI, can you please show the full file and folder structure? What are the contents of your embyignore?

Thanks.
