Also, jelly and plex, play it well and normal. Karaoke and specials subtitles likes signs are buggy. subtitle.ass
Luke 42077 Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
maclaw 0 Posted August 2, 2025 Author Posted August 2, 2025 I was playing an anime series called Your Lie in April Episode 01 The intro has karaoke style ass subtitles, and when this shows the video stutters and audio its crackling. ebr 16169 Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
maclaw 0 Posted August 2, 2025 Author Posted August 2, 2025 I have the same exact issue with the standard android app
Luke 42077 Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 HI, we'll look at this and try to reproduce. Thanks.
RanmaCanada 494 Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 This is usually caused by potato hardware. Jellyfin and Plex by default burn .ass subtitles in, Emby does not. If you want this to go away, burn the subtitles in. Yes I have a large anime library, and yes .ass subtitles are a reason why I do not use a stand alone box anymore as .ass subtitles take massive resources that boxes do not have.

If you want to keep the custom fonts, fades and transitions, either burn them in, or use a PC. A lot of my older fansubs are absolutely unplayable on any Android box because of the amount of effects used. Heck even the crApple TV can't handle karaoke subs well and will stutter and slow down, and at times crawl on its knees and beg for mercy. Use a PC, get an air mouse. Sorry, it's what you need to do if you do not want to burn subtitles in.

I either extract them or find subs in my language. PGSSUB is slightly better but when there's 4 people at the same time watching a PGSSUB video I can make toast with my mini pc. If you really want to handle more intense transcoding like this, you should make use of a video card and let that do the transcoding for you. Their GPUs are much faster at this sort of task than CPUs.
Luke 42077 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 For video stuttering, please try Emby for Android 3.5.25 and let us know how that compares: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
