Problem with multipart movies.

I have also noticed this just hadn't had time to take a look at what was happening.

In a recent update, about a week ago I noticed that all of my multipart movies (movie.part1.avi, movie.part2.avi) started showing up in the web client as two separate movies. It's also affecting MB Classic. I have tried deleting absolutely everyting in the folders except the actual video files, and as soon as the library scan runs ti generates xml files and *-poster.jpg and *-fanart.jpg files for each movie, as well as a folder.xml file.

Version 3.0.5444.17879

Let me know if the new dev build going up resolves it. Thanks.

Happened with 2 of my movies too, for me it was an easy fix. Once I went into the folder I noticed there was a spelling mistake in one of the movie file names which I guess made MBS think it was 2 separate movies. I just deleted everything except the movie files and renamed them the same except for the CD1 and CD2 and rescanned

Yes it did. Had to clear out the metadata from some of them but after that it seems to be working fine. Thank yoU!

I'm having a similar problem on Version 3.0.5441.2.

In some cases, Server seems to be picking up multiple file types from folders in my movies collections as though they are separate movies.

I've tried clearing out all the metadata, restarting server and re-scanning but this hasn't helped.

For example:

..\Movies\Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)\

Contains files:

panda-2-subs.idx

panda-2-subs.rar

panda-2-xvid.avi

panda-2-xvid.eng.srt

Server is picking this up as separate movies "panda-2-subs" and "panda-2"

Previously I think Server would Identify the folder as the movie title. Files contained in the folder should be handled based on the file type but not detected as titles (I may be showing my ignorance here!)

As mentioned above, this is fixed in a later version (which is now available as a release).  Update and refresh the items.

Actually,  looking at his report, i don't think it's related to  multi-part. the rar file is now detected as a video. he should unzip those subs, or wait until we can offer configuration for that.

Ah, yes.  I have a feeling recognizing archives as videos is going to throw a wrench in a lot of setups.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to need to wait for configuration to be developed.

There's just too many of these in my collection to make extracting the archives a viable option.

assuming they all end in subs.rar

search your top level directory for *subs.rar. highlight all, extract, highlight all, delete.

there is incentive to extract beyond just media browser, in that more programs will be able to understand them out of the box. (in fact, we currently don't).

Seems like Server may also be picking up *.sub files as movie titles.

no, that's not possible.
