GaryG 5 Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 I just purchased an Emby Premier Subscription, I have an IPTV provider, I'm Trying to load an M3U file which is about 80 MB, and is on my local network. It is taking a very long time to load. So far I have only gone to about 11%, I dont want to just let it load for 24 or more hours, which is what I estimate it might take to complete. Any thoughts on why its so slow? There are alot of channels. Any commentary would be appreciated.
Luke 42077 Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
GaryG 5 Posted July 29, 2025 Author Posted July 29, 2025 There was'nt a problem per sey, "Refresh Guide Data" was very slow in refreshing. Ive loaded the M3U file into Smarters IPTV, and other apps, it took seconds to load. I can tell you that it is alot of information. thousands of entries. What exactly do you want me to look for in the log? Thanks GG

GaryG 5 Posted July 29, 2025 Author Posted July 29, 2025 It gets to about 10.1 % quickly then slows down to a point where it gains 0.1% every few minutes.
GaryG 5 Posted July 29, 2025 Author Posted July 29, 2025 I can hear the hard drives in the Synology clicking away while this is going on. Luke 42077 Posted July 29, 2025 Posted July 29, 2025 Hi there, please attach the complete emby server log file. Thanks.
GaryG 5 Posted July 29, 2025 Author Posted July 29, 2025 FYI: Ive edited the M3U File, trimmed it down from 80M to about 65M. Took out alot of lines of data that were unneeded. Still the same. Guide Refresh starts at 10.1%, and crawls.
GaryG 5 Posted July 30, 2025 Author Posted July 30, 2025 (edited) Ive been searching for a soution...no luck so far. The "Large M3U" problem is an old one as far as I can tell, and not isolated to one application. I can try to trim down this M3U file more, But I dont think that will help. Its weird that it starts refreshing, goes to 10.1% rather quickly, and then just crawls so slowly. Ill keep looking. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. Luke 42077 Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 HI, have you seen the option on the m3u setup screen to only import channels from certain groups. Does that help?
GaryG 5 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 (edited) Yes I have, I havent tried it because my IPTV Provider isnt listed. I can try it. Which Provider do you suggest? Thanks Edited July 31, 2025 by GaryG

GaryG 5 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Posted July 31, 2025 (edited) It refreshes at a rate of 0.1 % every 1 Minute and 33 seconds. Edited July 31, 2025 by GaryG

Solution GaryG 5 Posted July 31, 2025 Author Solution Posted July 31, 2025 OK Im breaking up into Groups...I think I understand where youre going with this. 1
GaryG 5 Posted August 1, 2025 Author Posted August 1, 2025 Breaking the file up into groups, is working. One final question, I can hear the hard drives clicking away when we are streaming, is this something to be concerned about? Id hate to burn out a drive, they are brand new.
