Hey, I've today hit a weird problem with our Tesla and watching emby.

My kids, tried to watch a few movies and hit the same problem on all of them, some type of error popped up saying (along the lines of) : no media available in the right format.

I have grabbed the logs, incase that is of interest and can help point me to the right settings to get the car watching movies again.

Hi, is the problem just with that one file? I have not tested Tesla lately but I have tested within the last several months and it worked well.

It was two separate files (sorry did I load the wrong logs)? Infact there was a 3rd, but the kids just kept clicking on the same movie until I went and looked.

Fyi I am using the YouTube hack to go from browser -> redirect YouTube -> full screen (as in proper full screen).

Let me see if I can find the 3rd movie.

One of the movies has deffo worked on the Tesla before (abominable)

Hi,

Tried it today on a few more movies, and also two different ways of connecting (browser only Vs redirect).. both keep doing exactly the same thing.

I am just trying to convert a film now and then will see if that plays, as I believe converted films should fix any weird codec issues (which woule be rare, but wanna rule it out)

Hi, are you still having an issue with this?

Hi, yes I am, don't seem to be able to get any stream to start, which is a shame as it was an amazing feature.

Do you have any suggestions or logging i should do to be able to help debug it?

Transcoding does seem to happen correctly and is also exited when the segment is complete.

Did you check out the file (in this case Flow custom.mp4) with the same transcode settings via a browser (for example Chrome)?

I have a gut feeling the device you're using is just incapable of playing the transcoded result. Transcoding seems to be from h264 (720x360):aac -> hvc_nvec (640x320):mp3 which seems like a weird combo imo.

Maybe the serverl og itself has more clues, because I can't find any issues within the transcode log.

I'm just away  from home, but will have a proper look when back.

Fyi this is my transcode setup

@brothomyour comment made me think... So I tried turning off the hvec.. and boom Tesla is working again.

I assume that the Tesla is reporting it can use hvec, but maybe not in the browser.

All resolved

Yeah it sounds like Tesla doesn't support the HVEC codec or has (performance)issues using it, so it might be best to report this to them. Maybe there's even an update pending for it, who knows. Glad to hear it's resolved anyway.

Where would I report it to them?

And also do browsers "broadcast" what they can support? Or is it more assumed they should support? I only ask as not 100% on how emby knows what each client can support

The browser reports what it supports and emby server makes decisions based on that.
