Cast & Crew Meta data not completely updating when new movie added

I am having an issue when I add new movies to my library folder location where it loads all of the movie data as it always had but the Cast and Crew only has a minimal list and under the actor's name, it only says Actor and not their character.  I looked back and found that it started back around the time I was setting up subtitle plugins last March.  Everything before then was fine but any movie added since has been affected.  However this does not affect any TV episodes added.

Back in March I had added the plugin subbuzz and setup the opensubtitles.com authorization and when attempting to get it working I may have changed another setting.  I have gone back through my settings and have even disabled subbuzz to see it made a difference but when I refresh the metadata on the same ones manually, it does not update.  I have checked and have the I believe the same settings ever since I started with Emby about 5 years ago so it had worked all the way up until March.  I checked the logs but they only go back a couple of days.

Is there anything else that I should look at?

What metadata providers do you have enabled and in what order?  But just guessing here but sounds like you have OMDB first so this would be normal behavior as cast and crew only come from first provider not all provider.  And OMDB is very limited and does not contain Roles only Actor names.

But a specific example will help also.

Hi,

I had more than one library with the issue as I have some separated by Family Movies and MA Movies.  The OMDB was 2nd underneath TMDB and that had not changed since I had set it up.

I read in another forum entry that if this happens to move TMDB to 2nd spot save and then open and then move it back to the top.  This seemed to work on one of the libraries but it took a while to start working.  I have then done the same to the 2nd library and it worked as well.

I find it strange that for some reason it was not seeing TMDB at the top, rather seemed to be using OMDB below. This happened after adding the SubBuzz plugin.  I believe that I went into the libraries to confirm the settings for the captions, but I did not make any changes and merely just closed the window.

As I read this in another post, this a common occurrence?

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Don't know the exact scenario but think there is a quirk when providers are added or removed as similar issues have come up in other topics.

I marked yours as the solution as the order can fix the issue.  I found changing the order and then changing it back seemed to fix the problem.  This must be done on each library that has the issue.  In this case, both were movie libraries if that helps for future reference.
