Primary image not generated (missing) for folders with sub-folders-only

Hello,

I have discovered following behaving of Emby when new media is added. Library type is "Home videos and photos".

Let's have following file hiearchy (New folder with only one one sub-folder containing media file was added to some "root" folder which is already mapped as Emby Library folder):

  • Folder/Sub-folder/MediaFile.mp4

In my case primary images for "MediaFile" and "Sub-folder" are generated correctly as expected. But primary image for "Folder" is not generated. In my opinion problem is that "Folder" contains just another folder ("Sub-Folder") and nothing else. In the past I experienced the same behaving but it just needed one more iteration of library scan to add that missing primary image. So it seems to me that some algorithm was changed recently and newly added "Folders" have missing it's primary images.

Now I tried to scan for missing metadata (not replacing existing ones), but the problem still persists. Also tried to refresh metadata for "Folder".

Any idea which settings I should change or is there a option to manually add existing primary image from Emby server folder hiearchy? (I mean some sort of tool able to browse other primary images based on Emby Library folder structure.)

Thanks and regards,

Jan

Hi, the change is that the inheritance is computed on the fly now rather than stored. It only looks at the level directly below so basically there needs to be something directly underneath that has an image.

Hi Luke,

thank you for explanation. Is there by chance any secret option how to turn on legacy image generation? Comuting on the fly is a great idea as images of the folders are now "dynamic", but for some users it might be a complication.

Thanks,
