Completed Allow simultaneous music playback and book reading within the same user session

It would be great if Emby could support playing music while reading a book (eBook/comic) on the same device, in the same app, and under the same user session.

Use case:

Many users enjoy listening to music while reading, especially on tablets or larger phones. Currently, Emby doesn’t allow both activities to happen simultaneously in the same session, forcing users to switch between apps or use a second device. This breaks immersion and diminishes the seamless experience.

 

Suggested behaviour:

• When opening a book/comic, allow music playback to continue.
• Let users control music (pause/skip/volume) via a mini-player while reading.
• Avoid stopping the music unless there’s explicit media playback (e.g., video) that needs audio focus.

Benefits:

• Enhances Emby’s versatility as an all-in-one media platform.
• Matches user expectations from modern multimedia apps.
• Improves usability for casual readers and families alike.
