besii 0 Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Hi everyone, I’m currently using Emby with two separate folders for different quality versions of my TV shows: /media/showsHD /media/shows4k If a show exists in both HD and 4K, Emby shows two separate entries in the library. I’m using the Auto Merge Movie Versions plugin, which works great for films – exactly what I was looking for. Now I’m hoping to achieve the same effect for TV shows. Is there any way to merge HD and 4K versions of the same TV show into one unified item in the library? I’m using Infuse to access Emby on Apple TV and Mac, if that’s relevant. Thanks in advance for any ideas or workarounds! Best, Sebastian
Apotropaic 41 Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Hi, I don’t know how infuse will complicate any of this but within the individual settings of each of your libraries there is an ‘Automatic Grouping’ setting, which will merge TV Shows across different paths. For it to be automated you just need to make sure the different paths are under the same library. Otherwise you will need to do it manually. Either way for each of your episodes you will have multiple versions you can play. 1
besii 0 Posted July 23, 2025 Author Posted July 23, 2025 Let's not worry about infuse for now. I put my series directories in an “all series” folder and activated the option. However, now when I select Severence (a series I have in HD and 4K), for example, only the HD version is displayed without the option to change it.
brothom 177 Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 @besiiwithout any plugins and with one library with two folders I have the following: C:\Media\Series\ Top Gear\Season 01\Top Gear - s01e01 - HD.mkv C:\Media\SeriesUHD\ Top Gear\Season 01\Top Gear - s01e01 - UHD.mkv Having both these in the folder and scanning will be displayed as: This works without any third party plugins and just native "auto merge" Emby functionality enabled with this library.

Previously, when I started watching a series (e.g., White Lotus), the current episode was always displayed twice (HD and 4K) in the Continue tab. Now only the HD version is displayed. I don't have a selection menu for the episodes, I can only adjust the audio and subtitles.

They have to match like so: Top Gear - s01e01 - HD.mkv Top Gear - s01e01 - UHD.mkv
