Emby does not expose its media info through chromecast protocol

Just acquired a Unfolded Circle 3 and would like to see Media info being provided by Emby on my NVidia Shield. Google Cast permissions are set to share everything, but Emby is not sharing any information.

Where in the app / interface are you trying to look up this info? Which screen / page?

In this section of the Unfolded Circle Remote 3 Web Configurator. This is the configuration page for Activities where you are able to add media widgets. I have added the NVidia Shield as an Android TV entity and here I have added the NVidia Shield as a media widget. Source is coming through, but Media Title and Media Art is not being shared. I would hope to see the movie artwork I am playing from Emby showing here.

When opening Apps on the Shield, the source - app name is shown along with the app icon as shown

when in Emby and playing content, the title and artwork is not showing on the remote

Hi.  Our display appears identical to the one from YouTube...

That’s not really a helpful comment. YouTube actually sends the title of the video it is playing, I didn’t include that screenshot because I’m not in a YouTube support group.

Emby is sending nothing. No title, no artwork. THAT’s the topic at hand.

I understand but you showed the YT screen for comparison, I assume, and I don't see any difference between the two - which could indicate that the issue (whatever it is) lies in some other scope.

Here’s the way it looks for YouTube

@Varriothfor your two examples, YouTube and Emby, can you please provide screenshots showing how those movies appear on the Google Home App on your phone when playing on each app? Thanks

I’m not quite sure what you want here, sorry.

im not using a phone. As I said in the OP it’s an Unfolded Circle Remote 3 I’m using to remote control applications on a Nvidia Shield.

That's fine, I understand that.

For us to confirm what might be the issue, we need you to do a test.

While casting using whatever method you are now, on a phone, please load the Google Home app and then open the section at the bottom that shows the 'Now playing' items and provide a screenshot.

That will show us what is actually being sent so that we can then compare it

Sorry, I don't know why I missed your response with the two screenshots.

I'm assuming the top screenshot is Youtube playback and the bottom one is Emby, although it looks like nothing is playing on Emby.  Can you show a screenshot while Emby is playing something?

Posted

Hi, yes those assumptions are correct and sadly that is how it looks with something playing on Emby. That's the entire point of my post here, nothing is being shown through Emby, not the title, not the artwork, nothing

Posted

I don't see that issue here.

What device are you starting the cast from?

Posted

It's an Nvidia Shield 4K (latest software) running Emby for Android (Latest software) and the remote i'm using is the Unfolded Circle 3 - although those screenshots are from the Google Home App as requested. I see the same lack of information on the remote also.

So just to check, are you casting to a cast device, or are you just doing normal playback on Nvidia Shield and that's what is showing on the Google Home app?

Posted

I am playing content through a remote server using Emby on my NVidia Shield. I am not casting, although my limited understanding is that the titles and artwork are "shared" via the chromecast protocol.
