Buffering with windows and CCwGTV

Hello

So I will try to explain my problem with my ESL.

I had a good run with Emby for couple weeks then the problem of buffering and stuttering becomes unbearable and I cannot watch anything anymore even with low bitrate media. sometimes I get good run for about 3 or 4 hours and then nothing works for the next day.

1- I'm trying to watch mt media on local connection not interested in streaming outside the house.

2- The same problem with CCwGTV HD and TCL 4k with Google TV.

3- I thought if I upgrade the problem will disappear but it didn't.

4- When I open the media from the server it shows it as transcoding but Direct Play when I open the same media from TV Or Android phone and that brings the pauses.

Hope this clarify!

@Mrzurbait looks like two things are happening.

Some requests seem to be transcoded due to a bitrate limit. This is usually because the devices is either set to a different quality than the original, or because the media file cannot be played directly by the device. For example my browser can't play EAC 5.1 audio codecs, causing a minor transcode whilst my TV has no issue with that.

The second one seems to be an actual error:

2025-07-20 21:19:19.376 Error Server: Error processing request
	*** Error Report ***
	Version: 4.8.11.0
	Command line: C:\Users\moula\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll
	Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.26100
	Framework: .NET 6.0.36
	OS/Process: x64/x64
	Runtime: C:/Users/moula/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll
	Processor count: 16
	Data path: C:\Users\moula\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata
	Application path: C:\Users\moula\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system
	SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException: Busy: database is locked

It looks like Emby is attempting to perform a query on the database which is then reject due to the database itself being locked.

I found this thread from May:

This user reported similar issues. Eventually restarting their Emby server which resolved the issue for them.
Have you tried restarting the server? If you haven't restarted it yet, I'd advice you restart it and check again.

If the restart itself is not enough, @Happy2Play's advice might be applicable for you:

I restart it and reinstalled everything before I got here.

There's no such file in that direction.

I tried another laptop and the dashboard is showing the transcoding without problem. the proble is still with the Android apps on the phone, the tablet, the CCwGTv and Google TV.

Hi.  The issue appears to be that the database is locked while the app is trying to report session progress.

Just as a test, if you install the older "Emby for Android TV" app on the same device, does that have the problem?

Yes the same problem with both apps on CCwGTv.

I back up the server and uninstall it and restart the pc and then reinstall it with the restaure option. Still have the same buffer issue on Android apps.

If you look at the logs again, does the same error as before "SQLitePCL.pretty.SQLiteException: Busy: database is locked" still appear?

Hi, please try rebooting your machine and see if the database locked errors are still in the log.

If they are, then it most likely means that you've somehow managed to get two instances of the server running at once.

Si I've figured it out and it's not an Emby issue, sice I tested Jellyfin and got the same problem.  Both the Google tv and the tv with CCwGTv are far from the router and when I watched the homescreen for a while I noticed that the WiFi isn't stable and it goes on and of several times so I tried to do a hotspot from the computer where the server is to the TVs and boom the buffering stopped. So now I will continue  the hotspot untill I figured out a way to extend my WiFi coverage.

Thank you everyone.

I would still do this because we should get those database locked errors resolved.

Which log should I look at? The hardware one?

@mzurita19the main emby server log. Have you checked?

Yes. I checked. There isn't any database lock anymore. FYI when the @brothom told about I did a clean installation and enabled port mapping that's where it disappeared I think.
