brothom 177 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 I'd like to see if there's an interest in a "Missing subtitle" feature like the "Missing episodes" feature where movies are listed that dónt have subtitles in the provided / selected language or maybe just the current users' the default language. It would be super handy to just generate an overview with missing subs to then add subtitles.
visproduction 315 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 (edited) This filter seems to handle this request already. Edited July 20, 2025 by visproduction

Yeah it allows us to find media without any sibs, but I would like to know if a specific language is available. Perhaps this filter can be extended to also be able to select languages?

visproduction 315 Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 In my beta version you can search for Subtitles, Subtitle codec and Subtitle languages. Open filters and scroll down. Maybe your version already has these as well.

It would be useful if for example you're a non native speaker (French) and can search media where subtitles for the French language are missing. Edited July 21, 2025 by brothom 1
visproduction 315 Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 (edited) Broth, Data regarding the version original language per title is not currently pulled from any source. Also any particular media of a foreign film, might be VO or VF dubbed or some other dubbed language. There is only audio track info, that might show a dubbed version. There are multiple types of subtitles that may be associated with any media, including embedded and separate files. These subs may or may not be labled correctly. Identity of the subtitle language would not be 100% with files that do not include the language abbreviation. For media titled in the original language, you would think that might help, but you would need AI type of function to guess the title language. Quite often the media file has metadata missing for the audio language. Probably 80% of media online just has that metadata set to unknown. It is not very common the update the metadata with the actual language of the audio. So that data is hardly useful at all. That's a lot of variables to sort through and new data to find the media language of origin. That is available on varioius sources but is, again, not being pulled at the moment. It seems that this type of multi layered search is probably best cleaned up manually. There are too many variables to make a search that works, in my opinion. Edited July 22, 2025 by visproduction
