bwstandard 0 Posted July 19, 2025 Posted July 19, 2025 I usually watch things on the server at night and end up falling asleep. When I wake up the show is still going. I have the "Are you still watching" option turned on, however it doesn't ever prompt me or stop the playback. Mostly I'm just trying to get the server from chugging all night because it's playing video. Is there something else I need to get it to stop after a certain amount of hours or episodes? Server Version 4.8.11.0 App Version 2.2.41 iOS
Luke 42077 Posted July 20, 2025 Posted July 20, 2025 HI, did you have three hours of idle time with no user intervention?
bwstandard 0 Posted July 23, 2025 Author Posted July 23, 2025 I'm watching on a Chromecast TV, casting from iOS
Luke 42077 Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 OK currently this feature isn't implemented yet when casting to Chromecast. We can add this, but we'd have to do it on the device that you're casting from.
bwstandard 0 Posted July 28, 2025 Author Posted July 28, 2025 Sounds great. Casting from an iPhone. I'm surprised this isn't something that just kicks in from the server.

The server can't make a dialog appear on your phone. By the way, what model Western Digital do you have your server installed on?
bwstandard 0 Posted July 28, 2025 Author Posted July 28, 2025 I don't want it to appear in my phone. I just want it to stop playing. Plex I beleieve does it on the screen playing the show. Wdpr4100 I don't care how and what just so much as something happens that I don't have to shut off the server in the morning.
Luke 42077 Posted August 6, 2025 Posted August 6, 2025 Quote I beleieve does it on the screen playing the show. We normally do as well, but Chromecast doesn't have a menu system so that's why we can't put any buttons on there. I suppose we could put some text saying please go to your phone to continue playing.
bwstandard 0 Posted August 6, 2025 Author Posted August 6, 2025 I've just had an automatic shutdown of my server at 2am which isn't ideal but it's what I figured out. I'm just curious how plex and other streaming services have this. It feels like it should just be on the server that after X episodes or films it says "Hey"
Luke 42077 Posted September 8, 2025 Posted September 8, 2025 Quote It feels like it should just be on the server that after X episodes or films it says "Hey" You're just on the couch watching TV, though? You're not even paying attention to the server at the time, right?
bwstandard 0 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, especially a month after the last response

bwstandard 0 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 I don't know. Plex does it. Disney plus does it. I thought that gets pushed from the server somehow.
bwstandard 0 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 No. Everything I have runs from the phone. Tvs included
Luke 42077 Posted September 9, 2025 Posted September 9, 2025 Right so then we can ask if you're still watching on the phone, right?
bwstandard 0 Posted September 9, 2025 Author Posted September 9, 2025 I don't care. As long as the server stops feeding info due to "inactivity". Somehow the "warning" always shows on screen for everyone else which I think is being overlooked here.
bwstandard 0 Posted September 11, 2025 Author Posted September 11, 2025 It depends on the source. I'd suggest giving disney+ or any other streaming service, even plex a try. It's going to be much more effective than going back and forth like this.
