Horizontal videos from iPhone identified as photos on MacOS server

Running Emby for MacOS 4.8.11.0.

Videos taken with iPhone held in horizontal position show up as photos in Emby and cannot be played. The videos are in a shared folder in Mac Photos.

Please advise.

hi, what exactly makes you think they are identified as photos?

In the Emby app they're showing up under photos rather than videos. And they have no runtime and cannot be played.

Can you please show a screenshot example? What are the file extensions?

The file extension is jpeg: /Users/garyvia/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/scopes/cloudsharing/resources/derivatives/masters/2/2E9EA814-A546-4310-8E4A-069FF32DA3BD_4_5005_c.jpeg

There's other problems. Some live photos (which should be in videos)  show up in both videos AND photos. Here's a screenshot of photos and videos:

@garyvamaybe you have them as both photos and videos? If you right click one of them, then edit metadata, what does it show as the path to the item?

OK, here's the path for an iPhone video that Emby places under Photos:

/Users/garyvia/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/scopes/cloudsharing/resources/derivatives/masters/2/2E9EA814-A546-4310-8E4A-069FF32DA3BD_4_5005_c.jpeg

I don't understand how I could "have" them as both photos and videos. On my Mac they are all in one shared album. The Mac puts a time signature on the ones that are videos, and it puts a "LIVE" icon on the ones that play briefly (usually about 2 seconds) as a video. Neither of those appears on standard (non-live) photos.

Here's a screenshot of how they appear in the Mac Photos app:

OK that's really odd. I haven't seen this before, and I also can't reproduce on the beta channel. I would assume your issue is resolved in the upcoming 4.9 server release.
